Infact one of the biggest reasons why people say that living conditions were better in the USSR was because the collapse hurt the economy and stability of russia a lot and lowered the living quality a lot as well, meaning that things in general go down.

@When Things Aren't Right Go Left My point is that the USSR wasn't better, people just say living conditions were better, because the collapse of the union severely hurt russia, and destabilized it and it's now independent countries, hurting their living conditions and economies, but this has always happened, it happened in the collapse of austria hungary, rome, yugoslavia, and more, people will naturally say that times were better back then.
And I don't think that 12K online pollers are very representative of russia or it's now independent countries either.
As well as that, in most cases, it is hardly even the majority of the 12K pollers who did believe that life in the USSR was better, unless you look at the steppe countries, in which case, they HATED the USSR according to the poll.
