I have also seen police parked in VERY unsafe places for their traps.

2019-12-27 00:24:24 UTC

seen them playing with their computers or on their phones while driveing also.

2019-12-27 00:25:38 UTC

There is currently an option to serve jail time instead of the fine

2019-12-27 00:25:58 UTC

what not pay?

2019-12-27 00:26:00 UTC

You just refuse to pay and they'll put you in jail

2019-12-27 00:26:14 UTC

Lol

2019-12-27 00:26:22 UTC

they will put you in jail and then demand the fine and add another fine for not paying the first.

2019-12-27 00:26:41 UTC

Yes, something along those lines

2019-12-27 00:26:53 UTC

they don't want you to take that option though and you know it.

2019-12-27 00:27:21 UTC

if you demanded that form a judge he would come down hard on you and the police and jail would make sure you NEVER took that option ever again.

2019-12-27 00:27:53 UTC

these people have no accountabilty to me and I don't know that they have any to anyone other then the city they work for.

2019-12-27 00:27:57 UTC

if that.

2019-12-27 00:28:18 UTC

...
I want to like and trust the police, but with crap like that story posted up there, how am i able to do that?

2019-12-27 00:28:39 UTC

and that's not the worst of it, I have seen speed traps all over the places, heard that story time and time again.

2019-12-27 00:31:57 UTC

Depends on the judge

2019-12-27 00:32:15 UTC

Some would be fine with it, some wouldn't

2019-12-27 00:32:59 UTC

I have no reason to assume I would get a "good" judge, I must assume they will act in the interest of the state/city as they are agents of the state/city

2019-12-27 00:33:01 UTC

And yeah, there are unfortunately a good number of bad cops out there

2019-12-27 00:33:12 UTC

There are good cops as well

2019-12-27 00:33:27 UTC

they don't even have to be "bad" cops to be part of this problem.

2019-12-27 00:33:33 UTC

Ehh

2019-12-27 00:33:39 UTC

they can just be "normal" cops and be part of this problem.

2019-12-27 00:33:46 UTC

Yesish

2019-12-27 00:33:53 UTC

they might not even have a real choice if they are "good" cops.

2019-12-27 00:34:17 UTC

it's a problem with the rule makers and the rules themselfs, and the cops enforce those rules, good or bad.

2019-12-27 00:34:17 UTC

Depends on what you consider a good cop to be

2019-12-27 00:34:57 UTC

But yes, I'd say what you're describing could easily be considered the average for police

2019-12-27 00:35:44 UTC

if an officer was doing what i considered 'good' in this case I don't think he would have a job, i think the city would throw him out.

2019-12-27 00:35:56 UTC

because he isn't makeing them enough money or some such.

2019-12-27 00:36:09 UTC

Most likely

2019-12-27 00:36:27 UTC

They might not need to find out though

2019-12-27 00:37:10 UTC

something needs to be done to stop law enforcement form being a income source, until that happens I'm gonna have a very hard time trusting them.

2019-12-27 00:40:36 UTC

anyhow, i'm gonna head off, good night.

2019-12-27 01:56:22 UTC

what? why shouldn't law enforcement earn wages?

2019-12-27 01:56:36 UTC

that's rediculous

2019-12-27 02:00:05 UTC

Not what he meant

2019-12-27 02:01:06 UTC

What he meant to say is law enforcement getting an income from giving out tickets and enforcing pointless laws is a conflict of interest and doesn't help people

2019-12-27 02:03:44 UTC

Police officers are not paid based on ticket quota. That would be considered a bounty and is strictly illegal.

2019-12-27 02:29:09 UTC

They do get trickle down bonuses, when the department issues allot of tickets they get a budget increase, which they spend on toys. It's more like those corporate "job duties" that aren't in the contract but shit bosses will make your life hell for for not doing

2019-12-27 02:31:59 UTC

Basically it's an administration issue, and usually doesn't have much to do with the cop writing the tickets, and realising that they probably hate this part of the job.

2019-12-27 02:36:35 UTC

Lol @ thinking cops aren't incentivized to write tickets. It doesn't have to be a bonus if their job is dependent on a certain quota.
