In Slovenia, English is mandatory, and gymnasiums offer various third languages (I chose French because in my school the other option was German).

Mandatory third in Gymnasium, but optional in final two years of primary school.

I wish I had picked French in primary school already, maybe more of it would have stuck with me.

That's pretty similar to Slovenia then.

The gymnasiums select the languages I think, so there are different choices depending on where you go.
