<@&588707615643795456> Daily Question ✝

**-** What is your biblical interpretation of Genesis? Was it literal or metaphorical/symbolic? Are portions literal/symbolic?

2019-11-08 18:39:23 UTC

It was written by man who was show things beyond his comprehension, same with revelation. How could we expect Early Biblical man, without the scientific aptitude, to understand and write down what he saw accurately?

2019-11-08 18:39:44 UTC

Literal ,mean if I were god I’d definetly drop some super cryptic shit down on the humans just to see the fireworks

2019-11-08 18:43:35 UTC

I think of who translated the bible and the time it was written in as important factors when considering the bible. In the case of Genesis, it is far more likely to be symbolic than literal. The 7 days would most likely be an incorrect assumption on our part, we are trying to define the processes of the Devine using our own words.

2019-11-08 18:43:54 UTC

What does a day mean to an eternal being?

2019-11-08 18:46:31 UTC

Well mean god himself supposedly invented the concept so in that case it’s prolly literal

2019-11-08 22:58:38 UTC

Biblical Literalism

2019-11-11 03:30:40 UTC

Biblical literalism is a fucking joke

2019-11-11 03:30:51 UTC

genesis contradicts everything we have observed

2019-11-11 03:31:23 UTC

Christians who believe in young earth creationism are mongoloids

2019-11-11 03:31:32 UTC

*cough* @Shalopy

2019-11-11 21:58:13 UTC

@Riley out of curiosity why do you trust scientists more than priests (not saying I don't do the same thing)?

2019-11-11 22:00:24 UTC

Cuz it’s science my dude

2019-11-11 22:47:45 UTC

@The Desert Fox V because scientists have evidence supporting their claims

2019-11-11 22:47:50 UTC

priests have "faith"

2019-11-12 01:41:15 UTC

@Riley but why do you believe them?

2019-11-12 01:42:00 UTC

Why do you believe evidence presented is true?

2019-11-12 01:48:12 UTC

@The Desert Fox V because its been peer reviewed

2019-11-12 01:48:25 UTC

idk what you want me to say

2019-11-12 01:48:35 UTC

nor do i know what you are trying to tell me

2019-11-12 01:48:52 UTC

"well what if there is some grand conspiracy consisting of every scientist from the past 200 years to destroy god!"

2019-11-12 01:51:43 UTC

I'm not saying that's the case nor do I believe that. I've just been thinking recently that for the vast majority of people, the basis of some science is basically the same as the basis for religion

2019-11-12 01:53:47 UTC

no, that is absolutely not correct

2019-11-12 01:53:49 UTC

not in the slightest

2019-11-12 01:53:58 UTC

in science we start with data, then formulate theories which best fit the data

2019-11-12 01:54:12 UTC

we start with what we know, then come to conclusions

2019-11-12 01:54:17 UTC

in religion you start with your conclusions

2019-11-12 01:54:36 UTC

and you when pressed for evidence you give some stupid apologetic or say "well you just gotta have faith"

2019-11-12 01:55:55 UTC

because of this, religion is not scientific. It makes claims about reality that are not determined scientifically

2019-11-12 02:25:53 UTC

How many times have we gone over this bruh
