I'm not saying that's the case nor do I believe that. I've just been thinking recently that for the vast majority of people, the basis of some science is basically the same as the basis for religion

in science we start with data, then formulate theories which best fit the data

we start with what we know, then come to conclusions

in religion you start with your conclusions

and you when pressed for evidence you give some stupid apologetic or say "well you just gotta have faith"

because of this, religion is not scientific. It makes claims about reality that are not determined scientifically

The difference between science and religion is that religion starts with universals to explain things, while science takes the particulars and tries to explain the universals which is impossible.
