Referendums and elections are non-comparable. They are two different systems with different purposes.

2019-07-17 22:24:36 UTC

Absolutely comparable. One elects a person, the other elects a policy.

2019-07-17 22:24:54 UTC

One is just more direct in the working of the people on the government than the other.

2019-07-17 22:25:01 UTC

You're being *very* silly.

2019-07-17 22:26:13 UTC

We do not have flip flopping referendums like we do on elections, now that would be silly. With referendums we vote and the majority wins, not a difficult concept.

2019-07-17 22:26:27 UTC

Why would it be so silly?

2019-07-17 22:26:30 UTC

Two different systems with different purposes.

2019-07-17 22:26:36 UTC

Non-comparable

2019-07-17 22:26:38 UTC

With an election the majority wins.

2019-07-17 22:26:41 UTC

It can flip flop.

2019-07-17 22:26:47 UTC

Why not for a referendum?

2019-07-17 22:27:32 UTC

And again. Both public votes, both for public opinion on how the government is to be run, both majority votes.

2019-07-17 22:27:56 UTC

It's absolutely comparable by those variables at the least. Quit trying to stonewall and headsand.

2019-07-17 22:28:36 UTC

Yes, I suppose we should just re-call the vote once an opinion polls shows a shift in public opinion. We'd get nothing done with constant referendums, so we vote, accept the result regardless of your since then enact the public's mandate

2019-07-17 22:29:17 UTC

No no no silly!

2019-07-17 22:29:24 UTC

Have a recall vote.

2019-07-17 22:29:35 UTC

IF there is public petition to do so.

2019-07-17 22:29:50 UTC

If the policy stands, no harm no foul, if it fails, democracy in action.

2019-07-17 22:30:14 UTC

Democracy is a flawed system

2019-07-17 22:30:20 UTC

If the majority NO LONGER wants the policy to go through, why stop them from voting against it?

2019-07-17 22:30:26 UTC

Majority support is irrelevant

2019-07-17 22:30:30 UTC

That's a violation of democracy,

2019-07-17 22:30:34 UTC

So?

2019-07-17 22:30:40 UTC

Democracy is a bad system

2019-07-17 22:30:50 UTC

@Deleted User Of course it's flawed silly. All systems are flawed.

2019-07-17 22:31:02 UTC

More flawed than others then @DrRisen

2019-07-17 22:31:22 UTC

Democracy tends to be the one that garners the most power and strength based on how we stand today.

2019-07-17 22:31:40 UTC

End of story. Your governmental system got cucked.

2019-07-17 22:32:30 UTC

Now sit your ass down before democracy calls you a felon and invalidates your vote. <:really:591181753625083905>

2019-07-17 22:32:36 UTC

<:really:591181753625083905>

2019-07-17 22:32:45 UTC

It's an inferior system.

2019-07-17 22:32:50 UTC

*superior

2019-07-17 22:32:50 UTC

Technocracy is better

2019-07-17 22:33:14 UTC

It is clearly the superior system. The word you are looking for is "better"

2019-07-17 22:33:38 UTC

@DrRisen woah your arguments are so convincing

2019-07-17 22:33:52 UTC

It's not an argument, it's a statement of fact.

2019-07-17 22:34:09 UTC

Democracy is the most powerful governmental system in the word, end of story.

2019-07-17 22:34:16 UTC

Technocracy is superior as it means government is controlled by specialists. I.e. the economy is controlled by economists not just any one who is elected.

2019-07-17 22:34:23 UTC

/*better

2019-07-17 22:34:26 UTC

Not superior

2019-07-17 22:34:26 UTC

Power doesn't equal good @DrRisen
