there will probably be a sort of global balkanisation occurring all over the world in different areas this will likely lead to an uneasy peace between these balkanised states and eventually some kind of unifying force will start to sweep them up into cultural and economic poles

Imagine a Californian had 1 vote in a presidential election.

With the electoral college we currently have in place, a Wyomingite can vote more than 3 times in that same election.

This is why.

Look at the big picture. Missouri has a different culture, climate and values than a population heavy state like California or New York.

It keeps a few large metropolises who have no idea what they are doing from telling how the country needs to act.

Why does everyone care about equal representation so much

I’m looking at the big picture. I’m just looking at it differently than you do. Each person is an individual and they deserve individual consideration as to who they believe should be their leader instead of being grouped together by arbitrary lines drawn on a map.
