A great cultural shift to consumerism and money worship
To distract workers from the flatline and decline of wages
The outsourcing of jobs
The Reagan administration basically legalizing stock buy backs
Longer work hours
I think Marx misunderstands/didn't have a full picture of power dynamics
Consumerism is the problem
I've been saying this forever
You make the people poorer
Marx couldnt predict the future, it's really not his fault that in his lifetime capitalism was backed alot more by force than today
People who have less stuff are better off
To a point of course
When I say stuff I mean consumer gadgets and designer clothes and such
Eh
Tbh
Consumerist cultural is good for the rich
*for the rich*
What's it doing for you and me
Making communists out of us
I mean, the dynamics that guide social and political change were the same in the past, though they are much more robust and difficult to puncture now
That's about it
Why be a communist when you can be a distributist or something not heretical
Eh
This
Aren't we going very off topic
Distributism cant work until the church is purified or Christianity is United
Preferably both
What was the question even
Military spending
No religion based economic system can work West of the German polish border
It's very secular
Well nothing at all is going to happen until we build institutions outside of the current neoliberal paradigm, and the church has the greatest potential to become that (as it previously was).
The church was only so powerful because of an information disparity
It's not "religion based" persay it's just consistent with catholic social teachings
And was designed to be so
Without the information disparity you see the church power weakening even in staunchly Muslim countries
The fundamentalist shit holes are either opening up or locking down everything
What do you mean by information disparity?
Are you spreading protestant garbage that the church needs to suppress information to survive
They do
