I kept hearing horrible stories about long lines in Canada and the UK.

My brother has been to the doctors in the UK, there was no wait time

2019-12-22 00:36:36 UTC

the only downside to Canada's healthcare system is the downsides really

2019-12-22 00:36:36 UTC

At all

2019-12-22 00:36:42 UTC

it's a topic politicians avoid talking about

2019-12-22 00:36:51 UTC

(wait what the fuck did I just say)

2019-12-22 00:36:55 UTC

the wait-times

2019-12-22 00:37:01 UTC

The downsides are the downsides

2019-12-22 00:37:09 UTC

am I wrong though?

2019-12-22 00:37:11 UTC

Well said

2019-12-22 00:37:21 UTC

I meant the downside is the wait times

2019-12-22 00:37:24 UTC

which can be up to months

2019-12-22 00:38:24 UTC

Switzerland is a Universal Private Health Insurance nation. Japan is a Universal Public Insurance nation. Finland is a Universal Government funded nation. Germany is a Universal Public-Private Insurance nation. And the US. is a Non-Universal Insurance nation.

2019-12-22 00:38:36 UTC

- just as a comparison

2019-12-22 00:38:53 UTC

France is a decent example of federalized healthcare

2019-12-22 00:39:08 UTC

although they spend a large portion of their budget on healthcare each year

2019-12-22 00:42:36 UTC

@GreyWolf Doesn't the US technically have public healthcare as well, in the form of Medicaid?

2019-12-22 00:44:20 UTC

It is a public option more or less.

2019-12-22 00:44:57 UTC

It is not used by everyone, thus not universal.

2019-12-22 01:03:14 UTC

Exactly

2019-12-22 01:03:38 UTC

And alot of people here don't like Medicaid.

2019-12-22 01:19:45 UTC

@GreyWolf There is a contradiction in the US whenever I hear about paying a lot for healthcare insurance. On some plans, I heard that, and especially if their jobs provide healthcare, they pay as low as $60 a month. Vincent James once said that he pays over $1200 a month for a family plan and keep in mind, he lives in California. Why is there a discrepancy?

2019-12-22 01:52:44 UTC

Well they can vary state to state. And different Health Insurance groups have different charge rates.

2019-12-22 01:54:51 UTC

Its low in Kansas generally. More so when compared to California.
