2018-04-22 11:53:36 UTC

and heres a working sketch!! in the now.

2018-04-22 16:40:53 UTC

Ah no. That's my art style now. I draw the "Long limbed Bratz Doll head" art style.

2018-04-23 03:19:05 UTC

There's only so far the art style excuse can go, Trini.

2018-04-23 03:29:51 UTC

Oh shit

2018-04-23 12:36:37 UTC

Shots fired shots fired

2018-04-23 13:43:51 UTC

Critical hit

2018-04-23 14:05:38 UTC

._. So tell me.. how come with me, the art style is horrible but yet, Animators and artists like tim burton are praised for their art? He makes characters skinny too. Butch Hartman: He has skinny characters as well? Naoko Takeuchi? She makes her characters skinny beyond belief? How come with me my art is bad for being too skinny or too long but when other popular artists do it they are praised?

2018-04-23 14:09:45 UTC

Give characters an ass like Baeyonetta then they would be fine

2018-04-23 14:10:45 UTC

Alright, I think you might also be assuming I look up to those artists (I don't), so thanks for that.

2018-04-23 14:12:48 UTC

More over to the point, I'm speaking as someone who has a different road on development on art, and I explained what I thought was off in your 2018. If you really want to bring up popular artists, then yeah, some people love their art styles, some don't. I'm not trying to be like them so I won't comment further on it.

2018-04-23 14:23:43 UTC

Even if they are too long, I still try to match the body portions. If the legs are too long, then I match the torso and the arms. Head too big but not the hands? Then I try to match the hands. Imo "Too skinny" or "Too Long" is not good enough criticism. Every time I hear that it's by people who think an art style in a girls cartoon sets bad examples for young girls. "Ew Winx club? The art style is horrible and a bad example because little girls look up to that and will starve themselves to look like them" Basically nobody can enjoy anything because apparently it's bad. It's a trivial argument and it's getting annoying. I draw slender girls and guys. That's my art style. Plenty of people have similar art styles, that doesn't make it bad or wrong.

yes I'm triggered. The whole criticism of a person's signature art style is trivial and I usually see that by SJW artists who bash on another artist for drawing characters too skinny. That's the reason I left tumblr, because I felt like my art style wouldn't be accepted. Everyone draws differently.

2018-04-23 14:42:41 UTC

Trini, I honestly couldn't care less about about cartoons setting bad examples for children and making girls starve themselves. That is a whole another argument I'm not getting into. What I'm saying is that I am coming from a _technical_ perspective.

I saw your art, and I thought it looked off. Like I said, the angle the body is at looks weird and misaligned. The torso goes to a sharp curve toward the hip, making her barely have a waist. You should be able to see some of the other shoulder even if the hair is covering it up. The other shoulder should face more forward, like more to the side. Her breasts should also face more to the side. Besides from what I perceive as too long, the arm also seems floppy, like it doesn't have a bone.

2018-04-23 14:42:46 UTC

There.

2018-04-23 14:43:40 UTC

You can take it or leave it, Trini, I can't tell how you draw. I'm only giving you some advice based on my perspective on art, that is all.

2018-04-23 14:47:10 UTC

That sounds like better criticism tbh.. Thank you

2018-04-23 14:47:45 UTC

You're welcome. I'm sorry I wasn't clear earlier.

2018-04-24 00:13:43 UTC

@fate I'm having a bit of trouble with the guy's arm around the girl.. does it look a bit off?

2018-04-24 00:15:21 UTC

IT LOOKED FINE UNTIL I STARTED COLORING AND NOW I'M STARTING TO NOTICE ERRORS

2018-04-24 00:15:26 UTC

It's okay!

2018-04-24 00:15:54 UTC

That's why it's a good idea to flip your canvas every once in a while, because once it's inverted, you notice mistakes

2018-04-24 00:16:21 UTC

...oh.. that's what the feature is for...

2018-04-24 00:16:27 UTC

...

2018-04-24 00:16:36 UTC

It's totally alright my dude

2018-04-24 00:17:14 UTC

I've been through several art classes and I'm still shading wrong, sometimes.

2018-04-24 00:17:33 UTC

I'm mainly self taught. can't afford art classes

2018-04-24 00:18:39 UTC

But to the point, yes, his arm looks off. Like an noodle again. It would make more sense to put the arm back, so the only thing showing on her waist/hips is his hand.

2018-04-24 00:18:45 UTC

lol i went to public school

2018-04-24 00:19:05 UTC

ive also been mainly self-taught

2018-04-24 00:19:31 UTC

Ah ok

2018-04-24 00:19:33 UTC

thanks

2018-04-24 00:26:21 UTC

better?

2018-04-24 00:51:06 UTC

@fate How is making something inverted lead to spotting the mistakes?

2018-04-24 00:52:00 UTC

@Trini Dayana Rivera Self-taught? I could barely draw anymore because I lack the motivation and confidence to improve.

2018-04-24 00:55:30 UTC

in a more completed sketch youd notice other things

2018-04-24 00:55:33 UTC

but for ex.

2018-04-24 00:55:55 UTC

inverted you notice the nose is too high up the face

2018-04-24 00:56:41 UTC

or maybe youd realize an arm is positioned wrong

2018-04-24 00:56:50 UTC

or that the shoulders don't actually match
