The only large alternative there is Rizon. That would be a blast from the stoneage, because some net dev fags don't like IRC, because the protocol doesn't play nice with phones at all and nobody bothered to extend it.
Also the slack server will leak some day. The reason won't make any sense but the fact that people know its there is enough to make it a possibility.

Discord isn't a good long-term solution, but you can usually run under the radar for now. Riot is most people's alternative for now.
