You're making an aesthetic argument lol
My sister's probably spent way more time in the sun than you have lol
My skin is fine from tanning
She's olive toned and she's still having skin damage to her skin from it
My dad turns red and his skin comes off
He’s in lots of pain from it
Yeah some people are more resistant
I’m kinda pale
Ye
I'm somewhat resistant despite being a literal ghost
Haha nice
But I still put on sunscreen if I'm gonna be out for more than an hour in the sun
Yeah
*I like not having wrinkles and want to try and keep it that way*
@Farunel >knows that melanin protects you from sun damage
>gets melanin from sun tanning
>implying that you can gain resistance to the sun even if you're white and lack melanin
tldr you'll still be getting a lot of ViT D since the recommended amounts aren't even accurate much like other diets.
I tend to forget or skip it which I shouldn’t but, it happens
I live in Sweden so it’s not as warm but sun still bad
I'm white but I can tan. So I have a nice tan which I try to maintain while also protecting my skin most of the time.
still having skin damage?
sounds like a diet or health related issue
Your skin produces melanin in RESPONSE to damage
It isn't preventative lol
<:FeelsKek:379422423206068245> bro tanning is literally the protection of your skin so you can accumulate Vit D
It prevents further damage, not what you've already got
>hence the lacck of burning
You dont understand how tanning works
"Melanin is a natural pigment produced by cells called melanocytes in a process called melanogenesis. Melanocytes produce two types of melanin: pheomelanin (red) and eumelanin (very dark brown). Melanin protects the body by absorbing ultraviolet radiation"
Isn’t melanin the amount of color in your skin
That you can have
It isn't tho. Even I, a person who tans, admits is not "protection". I mean it is protection, in the same way a callus protects you from friction when you play guitar.
Ah
Tanning itself is irrelevant to your vitamin D levels, bud.
Two separate processes that are affected by the same source
Correlation =/= causation
You do develop calluses when you play guitar on your fingers, the calluses are the body's way of protecting itself from friction damage.
That doesn't mean playing guitar doesn't fuck up your fingers lol.
Calluses and melanin are not the same thing
At all
"admits is not "protection". I mean it is protection"?????
no shit it's only a slight protection if I don't go out in the sun very much even I can get burned up when I suddenly get a lot of sun exposure. I think you'd need consistent sun exposure in low dosages.
And guitar can
