Ye

2019-10-11 07:11:54 UTC

I'm somewhat resistant despite being a literal ghost

2019-10-11 07:12:05 UTC

Haha nice

2019-10-11 07:12:08 UTC

But I still put on sunscreen if I'm gonna be out for more than an hour in the sun

2019-10-11 07:12:14 UTC

Yeah

2019-10-11 07:12:19 UTC

*I like not having wrinkles and want to try and keep it that way*

2019-10-11 07:12:39 UTC

@Farunel >knows that melanin protects you from sun damage
>gets melanin from sun tanning
>implying that you can gain resistance to the sun even if you're white and lack melanin

tldr you'll still be getting a lot of ViT D since the recommended amounts aren't even accurate much like other diets.

2019-10-11 07:12:45 UTC

I tend to forget or skip it which I shouldn’t but, it happens

2019-10-11 07:12:58 UTC

I live in Sweden so it’s not as warm but sun still bad

2019-10-11 07:13:06 UTC

I'm white but I can tan. So I have a nice tan which I try to maintain while also protecting my skin most of the time.

2019-10-11 07:13:06 UTC

still having skin damage?

2019-10-11 07:13:19 UTC

sounds like a diet or health related issue

2019-10-11 07:13:20 UTC

It’s almost more dangerous on colder days because you lay in the sun longer

2019-10-11 07:13:34 UTC

Your skin produces melanin in RESPONSE to damage

2019-10-11 07:13:42 UTC

It isn't preventative lol

2019-10-11 07:13:52 UTC

<:FeelsKek:379422423206068245> bro tanning is literally the protection of your skin so you can accumulate Vit D

2019-10-11 07:14:01 UTC

It prevents further damage, not what you've already got

2019-10-11 07:14:07 UTC

>hence the lacck of burning

2019-10-11 07:14:09 UTC

You dont understand how tanning works

2019-10-11 07:14:26 UTC

"Melanin is a natural pigment produced by cells called melanocytes in a process called melanogenesis. Melanocytes produce two types of melanin: pheomelanin (red) and eumelanin (very dark brown). Melanin protects the body by absorbing ultraviolet radiation"

2019-10-11 07:14:26 UTC

Isn’t melanin the amount of color in your skin

2019-10-11 07:14:29 UTC

That you can have

2019-10-11 07:14:29 UTC

It isn't tho. Even I, a person who tans, admits is not "protection". I mean it is protection, in the same way a callus protects you from friction when you play guitar.

2019-10-11 07:14:44 UTC

Ah

2019-10-11 07:14:45 UTC

Tanning itself is irrelevant to your vitamin D levels, bud.

2019-10-11 07:14:55 UTC

Two separate processes that are affected by the same source

2019-10-11 07:15:02 UTC

Correlation =/= causation

2019-10-11 07:15:07 UTC

You do develop calluses when you play guitar on your fingers, the calluses are the body's way of protecting itself from friction damage.

2019-10-11 07:15:25 UTC

That doesn't mean playing guitar doesn't fuck up your fingers lol.

2019-10-11 07:15:27 UTC

Calluses and melanin are not the same thing

2019-10-11 07:15:30 UTC

At all

2019-10-11 07:15:33 UTC

"admits is not "protection". I mean it is protection"?????

no shit it's only a slight protection if I don't go out in the sun very much even I can get burned up when I suddenly get a lot of sun exposure. I think you'd need consistent sun exposure in low dosages.

2019-10-11 07:15:35 UTC

And guitar can

2019-10-11 07:15:43 UTC

Just any other physical activity for hands

2019-10-11 07:15:46 UTC

Fuck up your fingers

2019-10-11 07:15:56 UTC

Do you just get your sources from weird youtube health fanatics? Cause everything you're saying sounds like you're regurgitating the same shit "health gurus" say.

2019-10-11 07:16:11 UTC

>been linking a wiki this whole time

2019-10-11 07:16:27 UTC

You already have as much melanin as you'll ever have tbh. You don't need "more melaning" to be healthier.

2019-10-11 07:16:34 UTC

basic knowledge on sun tanning and you even admitted to it but you're being so rarted about it

2019-10-11 07:16:37 UTC

Already seen this wiki. It literally states moderate sun exposure can promote vitamin D. Not that tanning does.
