2019-09-13 14:35:28 UTC

2019-09-13 14:35:40 UTC

2019-09-13 14:36:21 UTC

2019-09-13 14:37:42 UTC

yeah I don't remember you sending me that

2019-09-13 14:37:46 UTC

but I seen it before anyways

2019-09-13 14:39:16 UTC

It's a good book

2019-09-13 14:39:23 UTC

Uses ancient greek sources only.

2019-09-13 14:44:27 UTC

Well you're right about pederasty. @ΕΘΝΙΚH ΑΝΤΙΣΤΑΣΗ even though most modern historians consider it a close teacher-learner relationship which also had homosexual shades. I can understand not trusting them because of propaganda, as I do too, the problem here is that plato explicitly refers to λακκόπρωκοι if I'm not mistaken, which only makes sense as homosexuals in the context on what he'a saying. I remember explaining you this as well some time ago, maybe it was @Pelkių monstras and basically they describe exactly what is the state of homosexuality in the various πόλεις in fact some considered it acceptable while others didn't. But mostly they associate the places in which it is not accepted with the adjective βάρβαρος in fact they also distinguish homosexuality from a pederast relationship.

2019-09-13 14:47:04 UTC

And we're talking about 400 b.C. here

2019-09-13 14:49:21 UTC

What did you read about Plato though, I'm actually curious

2019-09-13 15:01:33 UTC

@anthr0pos I read several things about what Plato said on homosexuality in the Symposium, but if you go to the 'Laws' and the 'Republic' part in book VIII you will find that he condemns homosexual intercourse because it renders men unfit for marriage and that it's contrary to human nature.

2019-09-13 15:03:04 UTC

Good shit

2019-09-13 15:47:58 UTC

Plato was based af.

@Diónūsos

Introduction to the apparition
By Agathangel

The humilty of Jesus Christ the sincerity of God and the salvation of the race of man, I (blurred out) sacred name of Agathangel martyrdom, Ιε(blurred)όναχος of the Great King τάξε(blurred) being born in Rhodos from a Rhodonesian οθ (no idea what οθ is, τω is the dative article which precedes it). In the future from my time, and in a religious community. The militant priests of the Great King as a unitary organization, during the day dedicated to the Lord in March, proclaiming the Orthodox, everyone is (ποωτη or πωτη if contracted, does not exist as a word according to my ancient Greek dictionary) of the sacred and great Τεσσα-

2019-09-13 15:49:50 UTC

This is the best I can do working with that

2019-09-13 15:50:54 UTC

K thanjs

2019-09-13 15:50:55 UTC

It was quite a challenge being it was medieval Greek, the excessive use of genitives and the fact that he uses very little verbs is weird to say the least

2019-09-13 15:50:56 UTC

Thanks

2019-09-13 15:51:47 UTC

But it appears that he's explaining the vision he had about an organization of militant priests in the future @Diónūsos

2019-09-13 16:00:09 UTC

@ΕΘΝΙΚH ΑΝΤΙΣΤΑΣΗ 'laws' and the 'republic' in book VIII? You sure you're talking about the symposium here?

2019-09-13 16:05:25 UTC

@Diónūsos also, are sure he's from the 1200s? Because there is a famous historian and Orthodox recognised saint from the 400s / 500s called agathangel

2019-09-13 16:07:42 UTC

Ah also forgot to say

2019-09-13 16:07:57 UTC

I'm pretty sure Great King is intended as God

2019-09-13 16:08:08 UTC

In case it wasn't clear

2019-09-13 16:15:02 UTC

@anthr0pos are they not linked in in a way with the Symposium?

2019-09-13 16:15:13 UTC

like generally all of Plato's texts are linked with each other

2019-09-13 16:20:12 UTC

I might be wrong but I definetely don't remember that from the symposium. Also Glaucon is not even a character of it.

2019-09-13 16:22:54 UTC

@ΕΘΝΙΚH ΑΝΤΙΣΤΑΣΗ anyway can you explain me what the first part has to do with homosexuality? I understood it in 'laws' but not 'republic' perhaps because of the big brain english translation they decided to use

2019-09-13 16:24:22 UTC

Also the laws part is not quoted, I suppose the monologue is by plato

2019-09-13 16:38:41 UTC

@ΕΘΝΙΚH ΑΝΤΙΣΤΑΣΗ I could answer you on laws if you told me which section of the book it was

2019-09-13 16:39:40 UTC

I haven't read it all but I know it's divided in several books, written by different people

2019-09-13 16:39:43 UTC

Not just plato
