I'll say it again. The only reason consoles exist is because of exclusives...

That's true for the current gen, but there's no inherent reason why it has to be that way.
Fact is, nature of consoles allows for some significant cost cutting for both, the HW itself and for the games.
Of course if the hardware that's in it is obsolete at launch and inadequate for much of 1080p@60 gaming, it's not a great deal.
There's been cases where it was more efficient to buy consoles than the equivalent spec hardware in a build-your-own.
I remember a long while back that one of the biggest buyers of.... either the PS3 or PS4 was actually the US military using a bunch of them in parallel as server clusters.

Even today, you simply can't buy (new) PC with specs similar to PS4 anywhere near its price.
One of the reasons the Military did that was because they could completely standardize the verification process
The problem is, PS4 itself just isn't very adequate.

so I used Action replay to fix it up so I could actually use it for battle

@SkeF that sentence doesn't compute, I didn't think they still made Action Replays for current-gen games, Nintendo has been stepping up their security game I thought.
