the supreme court as shown they will definately wade into politics

2019-09-26 20:18:07 UTC

@Cragnathar The Destroyer You're wrong, lots of tribalism for the labour party

2019-09-26 20:18:13 UTC

The average man is not a thinker

2019-09-26 20:18:26 UTC

yeah, but they can't touch the privy council moving a law

2019-09-26 20:18:48 UTC

there is no way for them to find it unlawful

2019-09-26 20:18:54 UTC

They will attack boris' advice

2019-09-26 20:19:00 UTC

Again

2019-09-26 20:19:42 UTC

doesn't matter with that, there would be no way for them to open a case on it until after the 31'st of october

2019-09-26 20:20:00 UTC

Labour will win

2019-09-26 20:20:07 UTC

Calling it

2019-09-26 20:20:14 UTC

labor won't win.

2019-09-26 20:20:28 UTC

even labor doesn't think labor will win.

2019-09-26 20:20:41 UTC

if it did we would of had a GE by now.

2019-09-26 20:21:11 UTC

At this point, who knows what the supreme court will decide comes under their jurisdiction. Theyve made a power grab that was allowed to stand. They could very well try pushing.

2019-09-26 20:21:46 UTC

that's the point there would be nothing for them to push

2019-09-26 20:21:55 UTC

and if they did they would destroy parliment

2019-09-26 20:22:10 UTC

they will just say its unconstitutional and say we actually extended article 50 again

2019-09-26 20:22:14 UTC

like totally, the whole system would instantly collapse

2019-09-26 20:22:43 UTC

My question: how did Major come up with this idea of what Boris *might* try? 🤔 <:activated:504340346398834691>

2019-09-26 20:23:07 UTC

he's making a very helpful suggestion for boris

2019-09-26 20:23:12 UTC

Would not be surprised in the slightest

2019-09-26 20:23:51 UTC

It would be more likely he is making a recommendation to the parl to start legislating

2019-09-26 20:24:06 UTC

Against certain prerogative powers

2019-09-26 20:24:12 UTC

there is no way for them to legislate against it

2019-09-26 20:24:23 UTC

he could just yeet the legislation along with the benn bill

2019-09-26 20:24:55 UTC

there is one other way to ruin their plans which was suggested

2019-09-26 20:25:29 UTC

which would simply be that the government has control of bank holidays, and the ability to call bank holidays. Parliment does not sit on bank holidays.

2019-09-26 20:26:41 UTC

2 week holiday before 31st <:Kapp:426321779221463051>

2019-09-26 20:26:52 UTC

if bojo wants he could just call a bank holiday every day in the constituency of Westminster from now till october 31st, and there would be nothing parliament could do to stop him.

2019-09-26 20:27:47 UTC

and what could the courts do to that 'sorry, calling bank holidays is illegal' the people revolt and manually dissolve the supreme court after a statement like that

2019-09-26 20:28:46 UTC

Addng a bank holiday would not sit well with people, especially given they are appropriating the May Day bank holiday next year.

2019-09-26 20:29:23 UTC

that's the beauty of it, it would only effect the constituency of Westminster

2019-09-26 20:29:51 UTC

they can call localized bank holidays that only effect one constituency, and not the whole country

2019-09-26 20:30:55 UTC

so all the people would see would be 'the supreme court have outlawed bank holidays' then chaos ensues

2019-09-26 20:33:03 UTC

No, it shows that they pissed about with a bank holiday that people had already made plans for, and screwed annual tourist income from certain towns in the name of "too many bank holidays for us to add one for X event"for no good reason if they are willing to add one for arbitrary reasons, however localised it might be.

2019-09-26 20:37:03 UTC

no, because the normal people would remain 100% unaffected by any bank holidays added to just Westminster. all the people of the country would see would be the big bold headline 'SUPREME COURT RULES BANK HOLIDAYS ILLEGAL' being totally oblivious to the bank holiday shenanigans going on in Westminster, as only a tiny number of people work there. the people would then call for the supreme court to be yeeted into oblivion.

2019-09-26 20:41:21 UTC

were the rumours from yesterday stating that if opposition dont take up no confidence offer, then no 10 will assume parliament is behind his Brexit plan and Boris Johnson wont rule out a second prorogation false?

2019-09-26 20:42:11 UTC

yeah, shared that before

2019-09-26 20:42:34 UTC

You don't think "Boris creates Bank Holiday in Westminster Only" would hit the papers?
