Finns have for centuries (even under Christianity) retained some pagan values to value the nature, and to everyone living outside nation's capital still has that connection to nature to a varying degree.
Some may be hippies. Some just like to go to a cabin in the woods from time to time to unwind. Only people in Helsinki are detached from nature (=reality). Which may be why we joke about the need to nuke the capital city just because.
