That's fine

2019-09-16 16:26:53 UTC

But how can they choose someone for the most important job, basically a higher position than their own, without anyone voting for it?

2019-09-16 16:27:10 UTC

Direct democracy sounds like a complete nightmare.

2019-09-16 16:27:14 UTC

we the people give them that power

2019-09-16 16:27:19 UTC

by voting for them

2019-09-16 16:27:24 UTC

to become goverment

2019-09-16 16:27:30 UTC

Yes, but you don't vote for the actual commissioners

2019-09-16 16:27:32 UTC

how is this not democratic

2019-09-16 16:27:45 UTC

There is a layer of representation which is redundant

2019-09-16 16:28:11 UTC

Again, I'm saying if there were 5 layers or 12 layers, what would be the line where it would not be okay?

2019-09-16 16:28:27 UTC

Like a person that chooses a person who chooses a person who chooses a person...

2019-09-16 16:28:27 UTC

dunno how many times i can say the same thing tbh

2019-09-16 16:28:48 UTC
2019-09-16 16:29:17 UTC

So you'd be fine with 3 or 4 layers of choosing?

2019-09-16 16:29:32 UTC

i m fine with the system as is

2019-09-16 16:29:50 UTC

voting for the commisioner wouldnt be bad

2019-09-16 16:30:01 UTC

but still

2019-09-16 16:30:09 UTC

Why wouldn't it be better for the president/PM to propose a few commissioners and the people to vote for the person they want to represent them?

2019-09-16 16:30:13 UTC

we can change anything we dont like moving forward

2019-09-16 16:30:26 UTC

I think we should just have a world war

2019-09-16 16:30:33 UTC

yes tbh

2019-09-16 16:30:37 UTC

and nuke britain

2019-09-16 16:30:48 UTC

Greeks are jealous of the UK

2019-09-16 16:30:55 UTC

LMAO

2019-09-16 16:31:40 UTC

Rather live in Chatham than Crete

2019-09-16 16:31:42 UTC

Also, the people who are directly voted for by the people can't propose laws

2019-09-16 16:31:55 UTC

they can ammend them

2019-09-16 16:31:58 UTC

and change em

2019-09-16 16:32:05 UTC

What about repeal them?

2019-09-16 16:32:12 UTC

dunno tbh

2019-09-16 16:32:19 UTC

got to do research

2019-09-16 16:32:19 UTC

I don't think so

2019-09-16 16:32:37 UTC

You do understand how that's a problem tho?

2019-09-16 16:33:50 UTC

This whole thing about appointing people rather than electing them creates an atmosphere of cronies and buddies

2019-09-16 16:35:04 UTC

And when you can't propose legislation, just vote on it / amend it, you basically have a system where the Commissioners/cronies can keep proposing what they want until it gets passed and then never talk about it again

2019-09-16 16:35:41 UTC

and then you have the countries that dont like it

2019-09-16 16:35:44 UTC

veto it

2019-09-16 16:35:47 UTC

and its done

2019-09-16 16:35:52 UTC

NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT

2019-09-16 16:35:55 UTC

NO

2019-09-16 16:36:13 UTC

Can the PM/president veto it?
