@SPOOKY Phil, Ruler of Heck good luck trying to find my real identity.

2019-09-17 12:47:29 UTC

@Little Boots Ironically he didn't sign it.

2019-09-17 12:48:34 UTC

I just found that out myself. Never heard of George Mason and was wondering whether you'd confused him for James Madison.

So I searched him and found that he was one of three delegates who refused to sign the Constitution.

2019-09-17 12:49:02 UTC

But he was the one laying down the framework and creating it, especially the Bill of Rights.

2019-09-17 12:49:18 UTC

You know? The thing that paved the way for the end of slavery itself?

2019-09-17 12:49:47 UTC

Oh I did find that he did the stuff you said he did, yes.

2019-09-17 12:49:58 UTC

I just find it ironic that he ended up not signing the document he helped create the basis of.

2019-09-17 12:50:11 UTC

This is what happens when you let Carpetbaghers take over your local politics.

2019-09-17 12:50:42 UTC

@fvriovs it was mostly because it lacked a proper bill of rights, which he was a major proponent of adding in.

2019-09-17 12:51:04 UTC

Clown World

2019-09-17 12:51:08 UTC

Oh I see. So the Bill of Rights-

Ah yes I see it now. They were the amendments.

2019-09-17 12:51:43 UTC

My apologies, I'm not an American citizen or national.

2019-09-17 12:51:56 UTC

I know less than I probably ought to about the founding of the US and its subsequent years.

2019-09-17 12:52:15 UTC

Yes, which was heavily influenced by him and his work with the Virginia Declaration of Rights.

2019-09-17 12:52:37 UTC

He had a lot of children.

2019-09-17 12:52:58 UTC
2019-09-17 12:53:00 UTC

Twelve. Two by the same name so I presume one died.

2019-09-17 12:53:32 UTC

not to be confused with the Vaginia Declaration of Rights

2019-09-17 12:54:16 UTC

good kitty ;3

2019-09-17 12:54:31 UTC

So, yeah, they want to rename a school named after him because “Muh slavery.”

2019-09-17 12:55:16 UTC

those fuckers renamed my street from "Lenin's Street" <:why:462286147473637407>

2019-09-17 12:55:38 UTC

Re-writing history because you find it unsavoury...

2019-09-17 12:55:51 UTC

That’s what it all comes down to.

2019-09-17 12:56:02 UTC

If more of our ancestors had done the same we'd have far less historical knowledge than we do now.

2019-09-17 12:56:13 UTC

It’s because a bunch of Yankees have been moving into Richmond and turning it into a leftist cesspool.

2019-09-17 12:56:37 UTC

You mean northern US citizens?

2019-09-17 12:56:48 UTC

Yes.

2019-09-17 12:56:50 UTC

Just clarifying. I'm British, so for me 'Yankees' means all Americans.

2019-09-17 12:56:51 UTC

Damn Yankees.

2019-09-17 12:56:53 UTC

fucking yankee doodle

2019-09-17 12:57:01 UTC

Or just 'Yanks' for short.

2019-09-17 12:57:32 UTC

I don't hear the term used much but it's in our cultural consciousness and we don't differentiate between the former Union and Confederate states.

2019-09-17 12:57:33 UTC

I see why the Britbongs kicked out the Puritans.

2019-09-17 12:57:56 UTC

They always like to ruin shit for everyone else.

2019-09-17 12:58:00 UTC

The civil war means far more to American history than it does to anyone else.

2019-09-17 12:58:32 UTC

For obvious reasons of course, it was your civil war.

But the symbolic and cultural ideas that emerged around and from it don't really permeate any other nation.

2019-09-17 12:58:34 UTC

so does most thing tbh

2019-09-17 12:58:54 UTC

For you, a Yankee is a northern US citizen. For us, it's every US citizen.
