cause only other acdemics tell them if they are wrong or not; its hard to do that if you circuit or bridge just doesn't work

2019-07-16 03:50:54 UTC

@Ϻ14ᛟ yes, I have Elon musk mentioning it, on my phone

2019-07-16 03:51:10 UTC

He had a rather odd tweet about his socialism

2019-07-16 03:51:19 UTC

and if he is wrong, he can always blame those collecting the field data for not telling him everything

2019-07-16 03:52:01 UTC

@ManAnimal - People get obsessed with how the world "should" be, and let perfect become the enemy of good. When people say that socialism is superior to capitalism, they're exactly right.

That does not mean we should attempt it, under any circumstance, because the consequences for failure are far too great and we don't currently have a governance system anywhere on Earth that could handle such a system without total chaos erupting.

```Socialism is the science of dealing with the common weal. Communism is not Socialism. Marxism is not Socialism. The Marxians have stolen the term and confused its meaning. I shall take Socialism away from the Socialists. Socialism is an ancient Aryan, Germanic institution. Our German ancestors held certain lands in common. They cultivated the idea of the common weal. Marxism has no right to disguise itself as socialism. Socialism, unlike Marxism, does not repudiate private property. Unlike Marxism, it involves no negation of personality, and unlike Marxism, it is patriotic. We might have called ourselves the Liberal Party. We chose to call ourselves the National Socialists. We are not internationalists. Our socialism is national.```
Experts have a vested interest to be the smartest person in the room and you relying on their expertise
2019-07-16 03:52:40 UTC
doesn't lend itself to honesty
2019-07-16 03:53:04 UTC
Our German ancestors held certain lands in common.
Socialism, unlike Marxism, does not repudiate private property
2019-07-16 03:53:20 UTC
There is simply no evidence theoretical nor empherical to support that claim
2019-07-16 03:53:23 UTC
he's wrong
2019-07-16 03:53:32 UTC
well on the current definition
2019-07-16 03:53:39 UTC
soclaism is not superior to capitalism
2019-07-16 03:53:41 UTC
there is literally nothing wrong with cooperative ownership
2019-07-16 03:53:46 UTC
you're allowed to do that
2019-07-16 03:53:59 UTC
what is ownership?
2019-07-16 03:54:19 UTC
again, you aren't adressing the real world meaning and implication
2019-07-16 03:54:35 UTC
'means of production'; what is this? where can i find it?
2019-07-16 03:54:45 UTC
@ManAnimal - A perfect "socialist" system, would just take the current system and begin changing every business decision to account for social welfare, economic externalities, and long term stability. In theory, that would be ten times better than what we have.
Problem is, government bureaucrats would fuck it up SUPER hard.
They always do. Government is the weak link in a socialist system.
2019-07-16 03:54:59 UTC
Utilities and natural monopolies shouldn't be under private ownership, because it leads too easily to corruption and exploitation. But anything else should be private
2019-07-16 03:55:03 UTC
Describe ths 'perfect socialist system.
2019-07-16 03:55:13 UTC
@n meowzers Are you saying he is wrong that Socialism doesn't repudiate private property? Because he isn't. Especially in his time. Socialism as a political theory existed before Marx. The type of Socialists we see nowadays on "the left" (even if they're only LARPing a socialists but actually NeoLiberals) are Marxists.
2019-07-16 03:55:16 UTC
show me a schematic or design
2019-07-16 03:55:27 UTC
i can show you one of 'perfect capitalism'
2019-07-16 03:55:49 UTC
how would your system function?
2019-07-16 03:55:50 UTC
socialists believe in the freeing of the workers as a class, which means all private property becomes government
2019-07-16 03:56:02 UTC
not just some
2019-07-16 03:56:08 UTC
what does that mean?
2019-07-16 03:56:17 UTC
it's a description in terms of capitalism
2019-07-16 03:56:20 UTC
what it is NOT
2019-07-16 03:56:27 UTC
rather than what it IS
2019-07-16 03:56:44 UTC
It means you own nothing, everything is a tentative privilege that can be revoked for any reason
2019-07-16 03:56:48 UTC
@Ϻ14ᛟ good quote
2019-07-16 03:56:51 UTC
@ManAnimal - It wouldn't be too much different from what we have now, except business decisions would take more factors into account and financial transfers would be regularly made to account for externalities in business operation. Social welfare would become a factor too.
All pollution-heavy businesses would begin accounting for healthcare costs in the price of production.
2019-07-16 03:56:52 UTC
what is a worker or class in a communist system?
2019-07-16 03:57:01 UTC
Which is why I say fuck socialism
2019-07-16 03:57:02 UTC
Socialism would also begin moving towards the construction of arcologies.
2019-07-16 03:57:03 UTC
who knows mananimal
2019-07-16 03:57:05 UTC
whoever they decide
2019-07-16 03:57:15 UTC
they want everyone to be the same class
