well on the current definition

2019-07-16 03:53:39 UTC

soclaism is not superior to capitalism

2019-07-16 03:53:41 UTC

there is literally nothing wrong with cooperative ownership

2019-07-16 03:53:46 UTC

you're allowed to do that

2019-07-16 03:53:59 UTC

what is ownership?

2019-07-16 03:54:19 UTC

again, you aren't adressing the real world meaning and implication

2019-07-16 03:54:35 UTC

'means of production'; what is this? where can i find it?

2019-07-16 03:54:45 UTC

@ManAnimal - A perfect "socialist" system, would just take the current system and begin changing every business decision to account for social welfare, economic externalities, and long term stability. In theory, that would be ten times better than what we have.

Problem is, government bureaucrats would fuck it up SUPER hard.

They always do. Government is the weak link in a socialist system.

2019-07-16 03:54:59 UTC

Utilities and natural monopolies shouldn't be under private ownership, because it leads too easily to corruption and exploitation. But anything else should be private

2019-07-16 03:55:03 UTC

Describe ths 'perfect socialist system.

2019-07-16 03:55:13 UTC

@n meowzers Are you saying he is wrong that Socialism doesn't repudiate private property? Because he isn't. Especially in his time. Socialism as a political theory existed before Marx. The type of Socialists we see nowadays on "the left" (even if they're only LARPing a socialists but actually NeoLiberals) are Marxists.

2019-07-16 03:55:16 UTC

show me a schematic or design

2019-07-16 03:55:27 UTC

i can show you one of 'perfect capitalism'

2019-07-16 03:55:49 UTC

how would your system function?

2019-07-16 03:55:50 UTC

socialists believe in the freeing of the workers as a class, which means all private property becomes government

2019-07-16 03:56:02 UTC

not just some

2019-07-16 03:56:08 UTC

what does that mean?

2019-07-16 03:56:17 UTC

it's a description in terms of capitalism

2019-07-16 03:56:20 UTC

what it is NOT

2019-07-16 03:56:27 UTC

rather than what it IS

2019-07-16 03:56:44 UTC

It means you own nothing, everything is a tentative privilege that can be revoked for any reason

2019-07-16 03:56:48 UTC

@Ϻ14ᛟ good quote

2019-07-16 03:56:51 UTC

@ManAnimal - It wouldn't be too much different from what we have now, except business decisions would take more factors into account and financial transfers would be regularly made to account for externalities in business operation. Social welfare would become a factor too.

All pollution-heavy businesses would begin accounting for healthcare costs in the price of production.

2019-07-16 03:56:52 UTC

what is a worker or class in a communist system?

2019-07-16 03:57:01 UTC

Which is why I say fuck socialism

2019-07-16 03:57:02 UTC

Socialism would also begin moving towards the construction of arcologies.

2019-07-16 03:57:03 UTC

who knows mananimal

2019-07-16 03:57:05 UTC

whoever they decide

2019-07-16 03:57:15 UTC

they want everyone to be the same class

2019-07-16 03:57:17 UTC

how do you have business under communism?

2019-07-16 03:57:20 UTC

marxists/communsits at least

2019-07-16 03:57:25 UTC

and socialism implies that

2019-07-16 03:57:29 UTC

you don't have businesses

2019-07-16 03:57:36 UTC

@ManAnimal you don't

2019-07-16 03:57:38 UTC

I want everyone to be dirty hippies

2019-07-16 03:57:38 UTC

again, lots of hand waving

2019-07-16 03:57:46 UTC

exactly random

2019-07-16 03:57:49 UTC

Bullets go through more if them that way

2019-07-16 03:57:53 UTC

@ManAnimal - You don't. You just get to be a manager for a state owned business.

Theoretically you could get better managers that way. In practice, government fucks it up.

2019-07-16 03:58:03 UTC

manager of what?

2019-07-16 03:58:27 UTC

Tell me, what happens after communism?
