But probably my favorite characters are Settra and Alith Anar
And maybe grombrindal (because I like dwarfs).
Gotrek and Felix
Sttra do not serve, Settra Rules!
Vlad Von Carstein
And their eternal foe, Thanquol.
Fucking Thanquol.
He finally meets them and they don't recognize him.
I want Vlad to become the new emperor
They've fucked over every plan of his. He is sure they meant to fuck him over and knew who he was.
*but they didn't*
Settra is unironically the epitome of the ideological esthetic that WH comes from. He is a man with so strong a WILL that he will not die and leads his empire from beyond the grave. It's a very positivist, man over everything, shtick. And WH is, at its core, all about that shit. It's a positivist world wherein man's will and ingenuity are faced with the superstitions of old. The twist is that they cannot triumph... Settra is ironically kind of a hope that they actually CAN. He represents supremacy of will, kinda Hitlerian in a way, but well, das what that philosophical tradition lead to, so it only makes sense.
Alith Anar is just a spirit of vengeance. I like Nagarrothi HE mostly because they allow you to make non-goody 2 shoes HE armies. I have a HE army themed as Nagarroth for that reason.
Well, there's also Khalida which follows this line somewhat.
The TK do that in general
but Settra is the epitome
He also HATES sorcerers
which adds to the theme
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM I'm playing a campaign with Alith Anar it's actually quite fun to use Shadow Walkers.
of human will over superstition
he hates ALL sorcerers
including the mortuary cult
Well, I know he has a beef with khatep and the cult...
he learned magic so that he doesn't have to rely on them
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM well, he banished them
and in older army books, if you took Settra, he had to be ur only wizard iirc
After Khatep waked him up to restore order.
Keboob remove
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM I'm a newcomer, I don't think I'll ever get the chance to play the tabletop
In tabletop the Toomb King Princes and Kings have a rule called "My Will be Done!" Which gives the unit of undead they join their Weapon Skill. Because they literally make their minions fight through sheer force of will rather then magic proper. Settra has a version of that that affects not only his unit, but also units within a certain radius.
Weapon Skill is, in TW terms, Melee Attack and Melee Defense
That's sounds fitting, the game managed to transfer the "my will be done" very clearly
The tone of it at least, even on the diplomatic menus.
Also, unlike Vamps, TK armies don't really get deleted if their magic users die. Normally undead need a caster to sustain them, and if there is none left, they start to crumble into dust. But what manages the speed of crumbling is the Leadership stat and, whereas Vamps have super low Leadership, TK actually have above average...
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM sounds about right, and VC heroes are a prime target due to their magic
Even before their unded legions
Vamps rely more on having stupid powerful characters to win the battle, TK rely on attrition.
And constructs
