Putting the sexual tension between you and MAanimal aside, Jack. I do think that the social marginalization of certain behaviors is perfectly reasonable and desirable. Even if they are to be legal and tolerated behaviors. That is to say taking an approach wherein a set of practices is allowed to exist, just not in public space whenever possible, and especially not if it were seemingly trying to be "in your face". This is because I am fundamentally NOT a proponent of the "open society" idea. A society does need a domineering moral framework within which public life operates *exclusively*. That does mean that certain things that are not strictly speaking illegal should be heavily frowned upon *specifically* in public while their existence is tolerated otherwise.
The reason for this is that 1) multiculturalism is the alternative, and multiculturalism is just code for an incoherent, low trust society, which is gay ass bad 2) We're not gonna find he perfect system of public morals, yet we most settle for SOME. Thus the things that the system does not account for need to be set aside to private life alone so that they don't bother the social order by exposing its conceptual limitations.
The specific question of homosexuals has the advantage of being something limited to a smol minority of society, so marginalizing it has the advantage of hurting relatively few people. So as far as things to marginalize, it's pretty OK. S'always gonna be a lesser evil kinda deal if you see what I mean.
