@mikimof2 It's kinda maritellineal. But there is also tribal shit where members of one Jewish tribe don't want to marry anyone outside of that tribe. For the orthodox ones that is. And if ur a convert, u have NO tribe... Plus the whole conversion thing is a kind of misnomer. It's not treated as conversion theologically because there is nothing to convert to. You either are or aren't one of the chosen. The rational behind "conversion" is that you were born with a Jewish soul, so it;s more of a confirmation of an identity you allegedly always had.
