Justice is not social engineering
@Muten Well aware, but it isn't necessarily about informing the zealot, but the audience who the zealot may be talking to.
Justice is a moral category
Eh
If you complain at justice being bad for social engineering you're either missing the point or being a bad faith actor
Justice is the consequence of believing in free will as a moral category
he literally brought up that "everyone" agrees with him as a legitimate point
It's not conceptualized as a SOLUTION to anything
as well as "Every expert" agrees with him too
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM Bad faith actors. They're well aware that laws and punishments do not prevent crime. For example, take old laws involving inter-racial cohabitation. No one cared about the law or the punishment.
so appeal to popularity and appeal to authority
This is somewhat typical left wing rhetoric on the issue. Because the left does not believe in objective morality and thus does not believe in justice at all
They do not understand or care for the notion
I don't believe in objective morality but punitive justice is the only real justice
Ye, but you're a degenerate westerner
STFU eurofag
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM Or they disingenuously interpret the issue in a certain way. This is a perfect example. Based on Ninja's logic, one person being punished somehow has some kind of mystical influence on another person's intention to commit crime.
Your lack of conviction will delete your civilization

Because he's one of them (and that's where this whole issue arose from)
This is not about the EFFECTS of the sentence
do you understand?
or not?
he's just going to post bias links and not engage
because the amount of sources is more important than the content of them
@Muten Which only further strengthens our point that they aren't able to provide any actual evidence. Just links to opinion pieces or strawman articles.
This is an issue of fundamental moral conviction
it feels bad to be correct wtf
We will not agree on this
unless we agree on extremely basic things we don;t agree on
I have conviction to what I believe to be right, I just have no conviction to things that are false, and if what I believe is proven false
well then I lose conviction
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM Not agreeing is fine. Them agreeing isn't really required.
@Raintola Isn't this just being pedantic by splitting hairs? You can say that guns don't kill people, because it's the bullet that causes injury, but you can't expect people to thin kyou're arguing in good faith when the fear of prison keeps people from committing crimes and it is only a criminal mindset that ignores that.
It's preferable
