no, fascists are far right goyim, a totalitarian statist ideology has nothing to do with the left

2019-08-13 11:56:10 UTC

to be honest, fascists are the pinnacle of conservatism

2019-08-13 11:56:36 UTC

Not the american understanding of conservatism, but rather classical one

2019-08-13 11:56:47 UTC

A wish to preserve things as they are

2019-08-13 11:56:55 UTC

No they're not, any totalitarian state is the antithesis of conservativism

2019-08-13 11:57:05 UTC

Economically speaking fascism has alot in common with Syndicalism.

2019-08-13 11:57:10 UTC

Nah, you don't get me fam

2019-08-13 11:57:28 UTC

Also fascism is not necessarily totalitarian

2019-08-13 11:57:33 UTC

Don't be mixing terms

2019-08-13 11:57:35 UTC

Conserve, small government

2019-08-13 11:57:59 UTC

@Anavultus And syndicalism is not preserving the status quo?

2019-08-13 11:58:33 UTC

Conservatism in a classical sense can go about in many ways about trying to keep things as they always were

2019-08-13 11:59:36 UTC

I'd agree that fascism could be seen as an extreme form of conservativism, but it's like comparing social democracy to communism

2019-08-13 11:59:36 UTC

In a sense, american democrats are being functionally conservative when they try to reel back time to the era before Trump

2019-08-13 12:00:00 UTC

You're not differentiating between the ideology of conservativism and the idea of acting conservatively Uksio

2019-08-13 12:01:00 UTC

@Skogarbjorn That would be specifically mussolini brand of fascism in that graph

2019-08-13 12:01:11 UTC

Man that took forever on a double post.

2019-08-13 12:01:20 UTC

Fascism in ancient rome was much more benign and not as perverse

2019-08-13 12:01:55 UTC

Not that it is a good system, but it ain't inherently evil or totalitarian by itself

2019-08-13 12:02:07 UTC

It's just whatever the fuck mussolini was trying to do

2019-08-13 12:02:11 UTC

Facism in acient Rome? Pretty sure facism was a Mussolini construct

2019-08-13 12:02:37 UTC

@Skogarbjorn I mentioned a few lines before that I do NOT mean the US "conservativism"

2019-08-13 12:02:37 UTC

I've never seen anyone advocate for complete social control but little or no economic control. All examples of real life fascism I can think of have involved extensive government control of both the economic and social axis, albeit more focused on the social.

2019-08-13 12:02:48 UTC

Fair

2019-08-13 12:02:56 UTC

He came up with it, did Marxism exist as a ruling ideology before Marx too?

2019-08-13 12:03:01 UTC

That is something entirely foreign to the classical idea of "preserve the things as they are"
