There's a _lot_ of underlying political bullshit yeah. There's more than that though. Lot of new and interesting science on that channel.
But... I just need to call out the hypocrisy of conservatives thinking the left is only gloating with their liberties. When so many people in the center say they are "regretfully pro-choice" or turning outright pro-life, why aren't rightwingers and centrist turning "regretfully environmentalist" because of coal rollers and other rightwing lunatics? Why is this only working against the left?
Their recent doc and plasma/electric universe is also quite interesting.
Because people (even in the center) think conservativism is the "new punk rock"?
How the fuck can conservativism challenge anything when it's **DEFINED** as status quo? Heck, conservatives love being labeled "feminists", they think they are better feminists than the left.
Maybe in the UK?
I don't think they much care for the label in US
Also I don't think that is accurate
there's a large proportion of people on the right who agree with the mainstream climate science.
I'd say larger than the proportion of leftists that are anti-abortion
Not that _I_ agree with the science. Though I'm still in favour of many of the policies.
Can't hurt to rid ourselves of dependence on russian and ME oil.
And coal plants produce a lot worse things than just CO2
Here's a paper from a UC Irvine professor claiming that Democracy is "Doomed" by right wing populism because the "elites" couldn't produce citizenry with the correct mental and emotional capacity to accept what is essentially open borders policies:
The summation of its conclusion:
To conclude, we can ask if this trajectory and the promised results are inevitable. I think the answer is probably yes. However there is another possibility, if an unlikely one. Before it is too late, the democracies might directly address their own critical vulnerability, the inadequacy of their citizens. For reasons outlined in this chapter, the Madisonian strategy of managing inadequate citizens with less democratic, more republican institutions is no longer a viable option. The alternative is to create the citizenry that has the cognitive and emotional capacities democracy requires. This would entail a massive educational initiative, one that would have to bepremised on the recognizing the dramatic failure of prior efforts along these line. Perhaps in this way, democratic forms of governance may yet prevail.
In other words... we can prevent this through indoctrination.
Cause the citizens are "inadequate" to handle democracy responsibly.
We must reeducate the inadequate citizens... off to the gulag, comrade!
who constitutes a 'good citizen' changes quite a lot throughout
Pay taxes, vote, and shut up about it if you don't like it, that's a good citizen
A good citizen cannot do bad or they would not be good
that is not a democracy its a tyranny enforced through education
you vote for who your teacher told you too
Author: Rosenberg
I'm still waiting for the day when you people will understand that your ideas about the primacy of democracy, the rule of law and civil liberty are just as harmful to society on a grand scale as are gulags, forced labour and serfdom.
I wonder when will finally the people in the West realize that may be the fault is not that other countries have harsh punishments, but that their own ain't good enough?
There is no perfect society-face it!
What are those ramblings
There is only something that works under some circumstances and something that works under others. The true dignity of a people is to know which works when.
Truth unveiled @ETBrooD
Not sure this is unveiling anything
Or may be just what you do not want to hear?
What are my beliefs about democracy, do you know?
Nope.
But I'm not commenting on you either.
And what are anyone else's beliefs around here about democracy, do you know that one?
I'm commenting on @kunou126 post.
I have an idea.
