meh, the idea of the 'good citizen' is as old as time
who constitutes a 'good citizen' changes quite a lot throughout
Pay taxes, vote, and shut up about it if you don't like it, that's a good citizen
A good citizen cannot do bad or they would not be good
that is not a democracy its a tyranny enforced through education
you vote for who your teacher told you too

I'm still waiting for the day when you people will understand that your ideas about the primacy of democracy, the rule of law and civil liberty are just as harmful to society on a grand scale as are gulags, forced labour and serfdom.
I wonder when will finally the people in the West realize that may be the fault is not that other countries have harsh punishments, but that their own ain't good enough?
There is no perfect society-face it!
What are those ramblings
There is only something that works under some circumstances and something that works under others. The true dignity of a people is to know which works when.
Truth unveiled @ETBrooD
Not sure this is unveiling anything
Or may be just what you do not want to hear?
What are my beliefs about democracy, do you know?
Nope.
But I'm not commenting on you either.
And what are anyone else's beliefs around here about democracy, do you know that one?
I'm commenting on @kunou126 post.
Well then don't say "you people"
I have talked with enough Westerners to form an opinion .
This discord is very different from the average westerner
How so?
We have many opinions on many things, very often opposing ones, and we put a lot more effort into understanding politics than the average person
By the way, I'm not a Westerner, but I think I'm quite politically educated.
You probably won't find as much support for democracy around here as you would in real life
Does it bother you?
I have no time for the grandiose
Then, what do you have the time to?
What is your opinion on concepts like the equality of the people, the civil liberty, the rule of law and even democracy itself?
You can be democratic but not a democracy.
As far as I see it, this guy,Rosenberg, has some very valid points to make, and he does so in extensive and thorough manner.
So how do YOU people propose to address his concerns?
How about we don't
What should do you think will happen if a bunch of idiots took all power and started slaughtering people while the crowds cheered at them?
Well that's quite an escalation
Do you know why there are no democracies in the Middle East, at least, viable ones?
Because of Islam
