On a more serious note. Because I'm using the trope of the Spanish Inquisition, I feel like it's important to mention that the popular image of said inquisition is extremely inaccurate. In the ~400 years of functioning the Inquisition killed only a few thousand people in Spain. It was far less bloody (and far more through an investigative institution) then the lay justice system and lead to *far* less killing of heretics then the French or English systems of the time.
