cutlasses and sabers
Exactly
straight swords > curved swords
I wish a fair Princess would take my hand in marriage
but most of european history
straight swords
double edged
cause body armor became lesser and lesser
yeah
curved swords suck ass
@juts kill nme Wish in one hand, shit in the other, then see which fills up first. <:pot_of_kek:544849795433496586>
against armour
curved swords are decent in areas where metal is hard to come by and the people arent smart enough to treat wood/leather properly
@Tato Whips have literally never been used as combat weapons my dude. Even thick clothing would be adequate protection against it, and controlling it even without an opponent trying to bash your face in wasn't exactly easy. So no, whips aren't real weapons.
in east it swords have always been curved cause not much armor
so the middle east and the balkan-ish areas
@Nahkasetä maybe like gladiators
When I can, I'll be making my own sword a claymore, but with one side of the guard trailing up higher. This is to use it swung from the shoulder, and not the elbow
@Kealor they didn't have armored units
um tato
east has had plenty of armour
lol
the fucking persians were known
for their proto knights
As a large sword is dumb to use from the elbow
the clibinarii
he means chink east lu
actual east
chink east had shitty armour
depends on when luci
but it was still hevy
i believe the persians actually did have less access to metals than most
the top tier meme units arent the bulk of an army after all
the persians were in a prime spot for trade
not everyone is wearing plate armour
@Tato In writing probably yeah, but they're so useless in actual combat that I'd be willing to take 5 free hits from a whip no problem before fighting back if I was in a duel
when people dont have metal armor is when curved swords become relevant
@Kealor scale armour
is the tradition
