How agile are those suits?
Not very
Like can you twist to pick up a tool behind you?
They are a bit slow
But they do not need to be fast
why would a mobile forklift be agile lol
Well, I meant more of like flexible.
Like could you have at someone?
Hyndai has its own metal foundry and a whole "HUGE ELECTRICAL MOTORS" section
Eventually the tech coming out of places like Boston dynamics will make augmented LBE like this unnecessary. You’ll just be able to tell a robot “Go move that thing from here to there.” And it’ll do it.
Things there need to be handled with care, but they are damn heavy
So the suits are the best copmpromise
Can be done with a forklift, but you need a driver with too much skill for that
Well, the boston dynamics robots are nice.
Suit does not need training
But could they work in construction?
robots do what they are programmed to perform
As forklift driver I can tell you straight up: That robot suit will take more training to use safely.
A lot more
So the question is rather "can we programm them enough to be of any value"
Not hard at all
And this is in Australia, one of the most over regulated safety conscious places on earth.
I have seen them in action, they are following the natural movements of a person
Forklifts in a foundry is a fine art though
You don't get to spill molten metal more than once
Human in a suit can operate that hot vat with more control and finesse though
I guarantee you, you’ll have to be licensed to use one. That licensing will include, at a minimum, everything that a forklift driver has to learn. You’ll then have to learn how to operate the suit on top of that.
Probably
Though what is there to learn?
How about we just go all fortuna on construction workers?
You just move
Like you'd move in every day
Yes, but in every day movement you arent carrying a tonne of weight that can crush a person next to you.
We remove their arms and replace them with prosthetic limbs?
The training isn’t so much about how to use the machine (same with forklift, it’s pretty basic), it’s about what you can *do* with it.
Safe working loads, procedures etc etc
Prosthetic limbs solve nothing if you still have the calcium spine
The thing carries the load you know
You’ll have to replace everything... at which point just wait for Boston dynamics to make a good robot.
Besides, there are already passive exosuits around to be used
