Suit does not need training

2019-08-27 02:52:09 UTC

But could they work in construction?

2019-08-27 02:52:36 UTC

robots do what they are programmed to perform

2019-08-27 02:52:48 UTC

As forklift driver I can tell you straight up: That robot suit will take more training to use safely.

2019-08-27 02:52:55 UTC

A lot more

2019-08-27 02:52:57 UTC

So the question is rather "can we programm them enough to be of any value"

2019-08-27 02:53:25 UTC

Is it hard to get a forklift license?

2019-08-27 02:53:31 UTC

Not hard at all

2019-08-27 02:53:39 UTC

@Scale_e why do you think that?

2019-08-27 02:53:57 UTC

And this is in Australia, one of the most over regulated safety conscious places on earth.

2019-08-27 02:54:12 UTC

I have seen them in action, they are following the natural movements of a person

2019-08-27 02:55:03 UTC

Forklifts in a foundry is a fine art though
You don't get to spill molten metal more than once

2019-08-27 02:55:34 UTC

Human in a suit can operate that hot vat with more control and finesse though

2019-08-27 02:55:50 UTC

I guarantee you, you’ll have to be licensed to use one. That licensing will include, at a minimum, everything that a forklift driver has to learn. You’ll then have to learn how to operate the suit on top of that.

2019-08-27 02:56:09 UTC

Probably

2019-08-27 02:56:18 UTC

Though what is there to learn?

2019-08-27 02:56:24 UTC

How about we just go all fortuna on construction workers?

2019-08-27 02:56:25 UTC

You just move

2019-08-27 02:56:33 UTC

Like you'd move in every day

2019-08-27 02:57:03 UTC

Yes, but in every day movement you arent carrying a tonne of weight that can crush a person next to you.

2019-08-27 02:57:05 UTC

We remove their arms and replace them with prosthetic limbs?

2019-08-27 02:58:20 UTC

The training isn’t so much about how to use the machine (same with forklift, it’s pretty basic), it’s about what you can *do* with it.

2019-08-27 02:58:45 UTC

Safe working loads, procedures etc etc

2019-08-27 02:58:57 UTC

Prosthetic limbs solve nothing if you still have the calcium spine

2019-08-27 02:59:13 UTC

The thing carries the load you know

2019-08-27 02:59:31 UTC

You’ll have to replace everything... at which point just wait for Boston dynamics to make a good robot.

2019-08-27 03:00:28 UTC

Besides, there are already passive exosuits around to be used

2019-08-27 03:02:35 UTC

How far are we from this?

2019-08-27 03:02:54 UTC

That's a human.

2019-08-27 03:03:48 UTC

Cold the air and water flowing.

2019-08-27 03:04:03 UTC

Hard the land we call our own.

2019-08-27 03:04:11 UTC

All those are exosuits that are in use in the industries

2019-08-27 03:04:34 UTC

Last one being a chair that is always strapped to your legs, so you can sit anywhere

2019-08-27 03:05:13 UTC

Heck, you can even put it at the highest level and semi-stand while jobbing without getting your legs tired

2019-08-27 03:05:36 UTC

Do they make big ones for fat people?
