When dealing with a whole new era, get creative. I remember this one shooter, which imagined if WW1 was still going on, and never ended, until the first years of WW2. They created what guns would have looked and been like at the time.

They could have made a whole arrangement of neat looking new shit, and had it function well. They failed on both fronts because Bethesda went publisher, and stuck with that broken-ass Creative engine.
