One word: Curie

2019-09-05 19:37:58 UTC

Well, batt cap to cost ratio.

2019-09-05 19:38:21 UTC

add more lithium

2019-09-05 19:38:24 UTC

get more capacity

2019-09-05 19:38:53 UTC

Anyone got any good lefty discord groups I can join?

2019-09-05 19:38:56 UTC

@Laucivol - Which is why it's good to combine wind/solar with hydro, using fossil fuel generators as backup in case the entire system needs more juice.

2019-09-05 19:38:58 UTC

To a certain extent, but too much of an already unstable compound in every home. >.<;

2019-09-05 19:39:17 UTC

Yeah, as most things, a hybrid grid is the best bet.

2019-09-05 19:39:19 UTC

Just use a percentage of power to pump water up into huge resevoirs

2019-09-05 19:39:35 UTC

and when you need supply just use gravity

2019-09-05 19:39:37 UTC

Add a pump to the dam, so you can pump water upriver if need be.

2019-09-05 19:39:42 UTC

😛

2019-09-05 19:39:44 UTC

Though I would say that nuclear would be a stronger backup.

2019-09-05 19:39:53 UTC

Nuclear should be the primary

2019-09-05 19:39:56 UTC

Yeah, nuclear would be great if people would stop freaking the fuck out all the time.

2019-09-05 19:39:57 UTC

not a backup

2019-09-05 19:40:03 UTC

when you're the only furry in a crew of weebs

2019-09-05 19:40:12 UTC

fucking weeb

2019-09-05 19:40:17 UTC

See how I said I want decentralization of electricity.

2019-09-05 19:40:39 UTC

And solar tiles seems the best option if it's made viable.

2019-09-05 19:40:40 UTC

Electricity should be centralized

2019-09-05 19:40:48 UTC

Anyone got any good lefty discord groups I can join?

2019-09-05 19:40:49 UTC

It is WAY more efficient centralized

2019-09-05 19:40:56 UTC

More *power* to the people. >.>

2019-09-05 19:41:01 UTC

I agree. We should have a single nuclear power plant serve all of the United States.

2019-09-05 19:41:03 UTC

the losses in the system are way higher at smaller scale

2019-09-05 19:41:29 UTC

Decentralization can absorb the lossage, though, just fine.

2019-09-05 19:41:30 UTC

I see Ninja is taking up ManAnimal's spear.

2019-09-05 19:42:06 UTC

Yes, factually, in terms of raw efficiency, a single supermassive generator would produce more energy at less loss with distribution losses taken into account, that solar panels on every roof

2019-09-05 19:42:26 UTC

Single point of failure is bad.

2019-09-05 19:42:36 UTC

<in terms of raw efficiency>

2019-09-05 19:42:42 UTC

It's the veritable definition of terrible design.

2019-09-05 19:42:49 UTC

Never said it would be how to do it.

2019-09-05 19:42:56 UTC

Just said it would be peak efficiency

2019-09-05 19:43:16 UTC

Whereas I'm at efficacy.

2019-09-05 19:43:20 UTC

The ideal is a well distributed array of nuclear reactors

2019-09-05 19:43:37 UTC

What do these mean?
