All of the deer from this subspecies have those canines

2019-09-06 06:39:38 UTC

Every animal is an opportunistic carnivore

2019-09-06 06:40:01 UTC

Afghans almost hunted them to extinction

2019-09-06 06:40:08 UTC

But they are rebounding now

2019-09-06 06:40:17 UTC

but that's the thing, you want prime weapons like the saber tooth's canines to be kept in a fat sack so as to better protect from the weather and avoids rot more easily

2019-09-06 06:40:46 UTC

just like how bears and dogs keep their large canines inside fat pockets in their mouth

2019-09-06 06:42:14 UTC

You mean like that?

2019-09-06 06:42:34 UTC

That's a boar

2019-09-06 06:43:02 UTC

that's a tusk

2019-09-06 06:43:09 UTC

it's not a tooth like a canine

2019-09-06 06:45:32 UTC

it is a modded tooth

2019-09-06 06:45:44 UTC

here's an interesting design take on it

2019-09-06 06:45:49 UTC

plus think about it

2019-09-06 06:45:55 UTC

just like a dog or bear

2019-09-06 06:45:59 UTC

or a lion even

2019-09-06 06:46:38 UTC

In this species you have two teeth growing backwards and protruding through the top

2019-09-06 06:46:54 UTC

the large cannines are pointing dowards so it's much easier to protect it with a skin/fat flap rather then the upwards tusks

2019-09-06 06:47:28 UTC

true, but as evidenced not a must

2019-09-06 06:48:02 UTC

elephant tusks are also modified teeth btw

2019-09-06 06:48:04 UTC

also @Uksio that hog is one of the worst examples of a creature with tusks since if not broken or used those tusks will grow to eventually pierce its skull and bore straight to its brain killing it

2019-09-06 06:48:32 UTC

essentially auto-lobotomy

2019-09-06 06:48:34 UTC

Ah, I see you are a man of culture too

2019-09-06 06:48:54 UTC

Didn't expect anyone to know or care about that factoid

2019-09-06 06:49:54 UTC

that's i i believe the modern take on smilodons having skin flaps to protect its teeth, it's something we see nowadays on animals and it makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint

2019-09-06 06:50:04 UTC

just like dinos having feathers and fat

2019-09-06 06:50:07 UTC
2019-09-06 06:50:20 UTC

Most though develop a curl that does not kill them

2019-09-06 06:50:39 UTC

Or have an off-kilter

2019-09-06 06:51:09 UTC

and then you have dumb niggers hogs that commit suicide

2019-09-06 06:51:11 UTC

Media sensationalised it by showing the few ones that did die from their own teeth

2019-09-06 06:51:16 UTC

How didn't these die in evolution @Uksio

2019-09-06 06:51:24 UTC

checkmate atheists

2019-09-06 06:51:29 UTC

god is just an asshole

2019-09-06 06:51:37 UTC
