Base 12 can be divided into thirds more conveniently
So as far as everyday use, it would be great for carpenters and other people that work with tools
But alas, we have started with 10
I blame french
Sacre bleu
The thing is: french did have that option on the table - the whole trade was in base 12
Pounds (weight), feet, coin values and volumes were already measured in base 12
Base 10 was a thing that aristocracy liked because **10 fucking fingers argument** and greeks
Or
Carpenters could change to base 10
Instead of fucking with inches.
Indunno
Fucking faggots
Imperial system needs to die
I wasn't talking about it either
Base 10 is infinitely superiour
12 hour clock vs 24 hour clock
Imperial system is base what-the-fuck
Not base 12
10 hour clock with 100 minutes.
I use 24 hour format
Much better.
100 does not fare as well with subdivisions
33.33333333333 minutes is a third
It'd work fine.
Why would we use a third of an hour.
There is a good reason 12 and 60 were chosen and never got metrified
Convenience
There's not good reason.
Just too many clocks and small brains too dependent on clocks.
Because a thirsd of an hour is an amount that is commonly happening
a lot of things are hppening in 20 minutes
Look
Yes because we use thirds because it is a weird system
But if we switched to ten hours hundred minutes hold on.
@NinjaQuick You can use the swiss swatch time if you want
@NinjaQuick nothing is weird about thirds. You are arguing from a position "it is good because I grew up with it"ยง
>Who?
This is the same argument the yarn weavers were REEEEing about when the weving machine was introduced
