You should come to Belgium, enjoy our socialist programs and help us pretend we're not drowning in debt

2019-11-29 12:54:35 UTC

Beautiful

2019-11-29 12:57:53 UTC

Shame that so many fall for the siren call of socialism

2019-11-29 12:58:11 UTC

Only to crash and drown in debt

2019-11-29 12:59:43 UTC

but it's ok as long as it's just the country that's in debt, riiiight?

2019-11-29 13:00:07 UTC

It looks to me like the people in favour of this are just focused on the 'now' effects of socialism, not realising how self destructive it is over time

2019-11-29 13:01:13 UTC

Hold up

2019-11-29 13:01:24 UTC

Fancy seeing you here ald

2019-11-29 13:01:27 UTC

Or aware of the fact that the government is capable of being corrupt

2019-11-29 13:01:32 UTC

Oh hey Llee

2019-11-29 13:01:52 UTC

Fancy meeting you here

2019-11-29 13:01:56 UTC

Yeah that's the biggest problem of all really, it's putting way too much faith in governments that have a proven track record of working for their own benefit

2019-11-29 13:02:24 UTC

Isn't socialism the process and communism is the "utopian" end result?

2019-11-29 13:02:39 UTC

Not quite

2019-11-29 13:03:04 UTC

They're similar in concept but two different things

2019-11-29 13:03:23 UTC

Ah.

2019-11-29 13:03:36 UTC

They both end in the same way though

2019-11-29 13:03:41 UTC

Yup

2019-11-29 13:04:43 UTC

Do both of them emphasize the "workers owning the means of production"? Whatever that means.

2019-11-29 13:05:18 UTC

That's only communism I believe

2019-11-29 13:06:16 UTC

But yet again, that doesn't actually ever happen as the govt owns any and all businesses

2019-11-29 13:07:31 UTC

then you get people claiming they'll dismantle the government, yet somehow be able to get people to cooperate without a governing display of force

2019-11-29 13:09:45 UTC

Isn't that one of the biggest problems with anarchy?

2019-11-29 13:10:29 UTC

Anarchy is no government at all

2019-11-29 13:11:02 UTC

anarchy is great if you can't think more than one step ahead.

2019-11-29 13:12:34 UTC

I was referring to Dragon's comment about how if the government is somehow dismantled, then there will be a huge power vacuum that will quickly be filled.

2019-11-29 13:12:51 UTC

Yup

2019-11-29 13:12:53 UTC

Most likely by the military.

2019-11-29 13:13:01 UTC

Hello fellow immigrants

2019-11-29 13:13:11 UTC

Allo

2019-11-29 13:13:14 UTC

Expecting nobody to want to do better with their life, or simply want more power is one of it's short sighted problems

2019-11-29 13:13:18 UTC

Hello

2019-11-29 13:13:20 UTC

Hm, I can not change my name apparently...

2019-11-29 13:14:33 UTC

The issue with anarchy is that it's not only prone to corruption, but it's hard to get out of

2019-11-29 13:15:20 UTC

Unless you manage to develop a hierarchy within the anarchy that can survive long enough to become stable

2019-11-29 13:15:38 UTC

It's not that hard. Just gather a group of people, arm them all, establish a base and say it's the central authority now, and kill everyone that dissents.

2019-11-29 13:15:52 UTC

and likely to be filled with violence, because the government no longer manages the application of force. So you'd better be ready to protect your own from any violent thug that takes interest, especially when nobody is going to have any obligation to look out for you.

2019-11-29 13:15:55 UTC

All it takes is a bunch of cracked skulls

2019-11-29 13:15:58 UTC

That's incredibly hard to make a stable mock govt

2019-11-29 13:16:17 UTC

and wouldn't forming that kind of group be antithetical to anarchy?

2019-11-29 13:16:21 UTC

yeah, "violent thugs" describes many anarchists well, so...
