Yeah, first I've seen of this sort of check
also hi
Ah, I haven't been in many 'big' servers so that's likely why it's new to me
there could still be gold, but he can't be letting everyone see it just like that, got to find the treasury first
given the massive target on his head and others, can't be too careful
That's pretty damn mixed race
the beanie hides the world's mysteries
advantage you
or would that be disadvantage? After all, that makes you pretty non white
if only you were a toxic white male, think of how easy life would be!
inequality is skin deep, there's no way other factors could be at play, or they might have to look in a mirror
One thing I have liked from the Joker movie is people's different interpretations of the 'struggle' of Joker himself, whether it's wealth, disability, general discrimination etc
Yeah, it could've taken the easy way out of 'rich white man bad' but avoided it in favour of just showing it's individual people that happen to be dicks
It has a lot more depth than it has any right to as another 'villain origin story' movie, but it's all the better for it
it's certainly a message that need to be out there, given how the world currently is when it comes to people trying to dominate those beneath them, or people trying to oppose democracy because they don't like the outcome
Is that how it goes? I've not looked into what the plot is for Frozen 2
Didn't know they got into the theatre, figured it was just a brawl outside with some officers injured during the altercation
no two democracies will function exactly the same, groups have their own ways of using the tool of democracy, which gives it as many flaws as perks
given what happens in cases where a minority can dictate things, it doesn't often end well. Not helped that decision making can be tainted by wanting to 'get back' at the majority for perceived wrongdoing
also why it's weird to me that the media treats going for popular positions like it's a bad thing, like how dare they go with what the majority of people want?
not that it's without it's problems, like really labour and conservatives are the only parties that are ever going to be really considered for leadership, the smaller parties just have to hope for an alliance, it's only a bit more equal when it comes to individual positions.
even going further than that, being focused on a single task leads to the question of once this is complete... What then?
like with some activist groups having to create a new enemy, or simply keep pushing long after it's needed to retain their own relevance
given the fracturing of these parties into smaller groups, I'm surprised this hasn't at least been discussed
having more party options couldn't hurt either, or I should say viable options, given some people's view that you're basically giving up your vote by not going democrat/republican
Yeah, they'd need some monumental screw up to lose another 4 years
either that or an army of the undead to vote against them
the problem really is with how deep corruption is with politics, there's little to stop the same problem coming back, just with more small parties with no chance
Where these powerful people get into one of these split parties and turn it into what we already have again
at that stage it's down to the people to decide on the party, if a majority wants to avoid the party with so much power so soon over the others, especially if these smaller parties would need their own political alliance to hold their ground.
You'd think anti war would be a popular position as well, with how people raked Trump over the coals for some of his early actions in the middle east
I'm kinda looking forward to how voting is going to play out once brexit is done. Since I imagine a lot of people going conservative/brexit party/ukip are doing so for brexit, so once that's out of the way I wonder where they'll go next?
I doubt Labour is going to see many returners
Yeah, that seemed to have a decent effect when Sargon was doing that in the south, to the point Labour tried copying it
then he'd better start hoping Corbyn is genuine on wanting brexit, not that there's much worry of a labour majority the way things are going
I do know quite a few tribal labour voters though, surprising what they'll let slide because they 'always voted labour'
I remember the uproar they had when Tommy was visiting my area
That's one thing I hope to see generally in the future, having a greater emphasis on independent media for this sort of thing, as well as entertainment in general
I agree, I would never suggest labour has always been a bad party, just over the past decade or two it's just gone completely off the deep end, instead of just trying to help those in need it's turned into us vs them
not that corbyn's leadership is helping anything, between him thinking we have infinite money to his own party running rings around him, hardly inspires confidence
I'm surprised there's not more politicians following Trump's example in that regard
It's been a massive success for Trump and made him more personable to people I think
intentional or otherwise, the jabs he takes at people and the occasional meme makes him feel more like an everyman, despite the fact he's obviously a much higher class than most, financially
corbyn seems to have a big issue with interviews where he gets pressured. The one that always comes to mind is how he couldn't give a straight answer on MAD
that combined with the people he calls friends makes it look like if he ever did become prime minister, our security would be a disaster
when it comes down to it, I think people are just more interested in what Trump does and less what he says, while it's entertaining it's not important until it interferes with what he's trying to accomplish
Regardless of whether people support or hate Trump, I hope one of the bigger takeaways of his presidencies is to pick your president with confidence they'll do what they say they'll do, or at least make the effort to do as much as possible. For their own dignity if nothing else. If I remember right Trump is the president that has achieved the most of his campaign promises?
rather than taking the tribal route, going for the one less likely to lie to your face about what their goals are
one thing I wish we had more of in the UK, given the amount of politicians that claimed to be leavers only to be remain once elected
Admittedly I only remember hearing this years ago, so I don't know how accurate that ended up being for Trump, at the very least he seems more active in actually doing things, or it comes across that way compared to his recent predecessors
still amazes me that ultra woke canada voted for him after all the blackface scandals, just shows the power of the tribe I suppose
I do have to agree there, given how often people that complain about how morally bad something is, only to engage in it themselves
I can't wait till we reach a point in time where we're past the victimhood thing and can all poke fun at each other again
very true, is easier when there's less they can target, makes it all the more important when people with louder voices can do it and show how weak the outrage actually is
absolutely, given I have a big love for comedy I don't apologise for jokes just because someone is offended by them. I obviously don't go out of my way to be malicious, I just stand by my own intent, they're the ones choosing to be offended by it at that point
I'd like to hope for freedom, but with the pushing for words being violence, it's going to need to be backlash against more than edgy jokes
That's more or less what I say when someone is offended, it's not my problem if the mean words hurt you
the offense can often be the biggest source of humour in a joke
it's like they don't realise the more they take offense at every little thing, the greater the supply of these kinds of jokes to counter them
because people are going to find them ridiculous and soft
nah, you're just an undocumented citizen
well we wouldn't want to be racist by denying you
we'd best gibs you dat
Hahaha
that would be a nice addition though, since Sargon sometimes gets asked about the books he's read
when you're in Calais, you're basically here already, only a matter of time
I do prefer hardbooks myself, though I can see the appeal of audiobooks, especially when it's a story that really benefits from background sounds for atmosphere
for how much people talk about asmr, it's weird that I've never actually checked it out
it does seem strange as an outsider, I have a hard time figuring out the appeal
would probably be nice for me, I have a hard time relaxing in silence
I tend to just leave on some long youtube video where people are talking when I try to sleep
yeah same, or with interview channels that are fairly relaxed
always weirded out my friends that I can sleep through pretty much any noise, yet silence distracts me too much
I thought we had that in the UK too
with totally not adult 14 year olds
reminds me of that short lived BBC show, I forget the name of it, with those muslim housewives?
wouldn't be surprised if both
since if I remember right there was some mockery of islamic practices in there
all could be possible!
with some of the overreach, not to mention the level of control over law enforcement, I've been shifting towards small government as well
at the very least, over time it becomes harder to trust they'll do anything in favour of the people they represent, let alone the bare minimum you expect
seems like more often than not they use their power for more selfish ends
I'm not entirely sure where I'd align myself politically at this point
Hi
even if it was believable, I question why the US would want our healthcare when they already have their own, not like the NHS is profitable after all.
Wouldn't be the first accusation they pulled out of thin air
It looks to me like the people in favour of this are just focused on the 'now' effects of socialism, not realising how self destructive it is over time
Yeah that's the biggest problem of all really, it's putting way too much faith in governments that have a proven track record of working for their own benefit
then you get people claiming they'll dismantle the government, yet somehow be able to get people to cooperate without a governing display of force
Expecting nobody to want to do better with their life, or simply want more power is one of it's short sighted problems
Hello
and likely to be filled with violence, because the government no longer manages the application of force. So you'd better be ready to protect your own from any violent thug that takes interest, especially when nobody is going to have any obligation to look out for you.
and wouldn't forming that kind of group be antithetical to anarchy?
it just creates the 'problem' they got themselves out of
it might even end up worse than before because how do you hold a mock government to account when it's decided by who has the biggest stick makes the rules?
Yeah, we've far advanced away from small tribes, how do they expect to survive if we suddenly isolate ourselves away from each other?
or hell, provide food, water, energy etc
even manpower might become a more valuable resource
people's standards of living would certainly drop, if they're limited to what their particular tribe has available
then of course medical standards would drop because not everywhere can have well trained doctors, even if they do could they afford them etc?
