to support the creators so that they can make more stuff you might like, and to reward them for making something you like and consider worthy of (at the very least) your time.

i usually torrent all games first, and then those that I actually find good enough to finish (and/or invest dozens of hours into), THEN i buy them. many games I've bought after having finished them, and then never even installed the legally bought version, let alone played it (since i already finished the game).

i still consider it money very well spent.

unless you have an external CD reader physical copies are probably being phased out on PCs. when i had my most recent rig built, all the available PC cases no longer have slots for the CD driver

I had to buy a fucking USB CD reader for something recently. It works well but I regret not getting one built in for the times that I do need one (though my case gets an extra fan so it works out pretty well I guess)

Imagine buying a computer without a CD reader ... CD's might be phased out from production, but you still have old ones at home. My PC has one, and I actually used it

I transfered/backed up all my relevant whateverdiscs data and threw them straight out
