California isn't socialist? Why do Americans struggle to comprehend what Socialism and communism are?

2019-10-21 17:31:08 UTC

Ya that just auroritarian if the government is doing it, though that is a component of it

2019-10-21 17:31:12 UTC

yeah, I actually have to agree. its just completely overflooded with immigrants and all the services, public and private, are being swamped

2019-10-21 17:32:01 UTC

more a product of sanctuary city status than planned economy or redistribution

2019-10-21 17:34:05 UTC

In the big cities at least

2019-10-21 17:34:14 UTC

At least it nor Portland yet

2019-10-21 17:34:59 UTC

yeah, but they have yet another separate issue

2019-10-21 17:35:06 UTC

open fighting

2019-10-21 18:00:57 UTC

There's a Quasi-Civil Conflict

2019-10-21 18:03:26 UTC

California is just shades away from becoming a socialist utopia. The ever increasing taxes are just redistribution without the express intent being advocated by the state.

2019-10-21 18:04:28 UTC

At the local level it's different, but State Government is just a slow motion trainwreck

2019-10-21 18:05:55 UTC

it's highly regulated and redistributive capitalism not socialism

2019-10-21 18:10:32 UTC

What is socialism

2019-10-21 18:12:31 UTC

hence like the shades away

2019-10-21 18:14:25 UTC

Socialism has a market theory and a philosophical component, which a lot of people focus on the market theory because they don't like admitting their philosophy requires brutish and authoritarian tactics to implement.

2019-10-21 18:14:50 UTC

socialism in its most broadest definition would be the collective ownership over the means of production

2019-10-21 18:15:54 UTC

What ever it is I don't like it

2019-10-21 18:16:30 UTC

I mean the wealth rediatabusion and regulations

2019-10-21 18:17:10 UTC

Well wealth distribution isn't the goal it's just what happens when you take the means of production for the people .

2019-10-21 18:17:48 UTC

Most people, reasonably, can't imagine a way to do this without the threat of force.

2019-10-21 18:17:59 UTC

Then it is the goal. You’re taking wealth from some and giving to others.

2019-10-21 18:18:11 UTC

You are giving it to everyone

2019-10-21 18:18:30 UTC

Government enforced charity that what we can call it

2019-10-21 18:18:42 UTC

the difference is is that redistribution implies that you're maintaining private ownership of property but just taking a portion of the surplus and distributing it to others

2019-10-21 18:18:47 UTC

Mandatory govement enforced charity

2019-10-21 18:22:35 UTC

Redistribution where 90% goes to the government and 10% goes to someone else but no one knows who.

2019-10-21 18:48:55 UTC

Everyone not full blown commie is considered a Nazi by the left.

2019-10-21 18:50:53 UTC

social democracy works when people have a cultural bond. It prevents resentment and people will hold each other accountable. On the flip side...social democracy can never work with 20 different cultures. Like in AMerica. White europeans pay for everyone else.

2019-10-21 19:07:30 UTC

That's not Socialism @Wizard_of_The_West

2019-10-21 19:07:32 UTC

Not even close.

2019-10-21 19:07:50 UTC

The means of production are still in private hands..

2019-10-21 19:08:14 UTC

They're not nationalising as many assets as they can..

2019-10-21 19:09:07 UTC

Water and energy are still in private ownership...

2019-10-21 19:09:21 UTC

What the fuck are you talking about, "California is just shades away from becoming a socialist utopia"

2019-10-21 19:09:49 UTC

Argubly Europe is closer and they're still MILES away..

2019-10-21 19:39:54 UTC

this is not good:

2019-10-21 19:40:14 UTC

time to call your Congress critters

2019-10-21 22:16:45 UTC

It's hilarious for College Commies to claim Socialism will be implemented peacefully yet shy away from questions like: "What if the farmers don't want to give up their land" or "How do you plan to handle industries that don't want to Nationalise"
