Demographics determine who will get that power. Who cares about term limits if they will vote for more of the same? And what ideology do all the demographics root for?

2019-11-19 01:47:55 UTC

Could say the same about elections in China. They have them. Doesn't mean much

2019-11-19 01:48:19 UTC

@hiddendjinn why have elections if there's no term limits?

2019-11-19 01:48:26 UTC

yeah, this pendulum swing shit is getting a little out of hand

2019-11-19 01:48:44 UTC

I'm gonna watch Nick Fuentes, later boomers

2019-11-19 01:49:06 UTC

@randomNPCno3 at any election cycle, in a free system, the incumbent can be voted out

2019-11-19 01:49:27 UTC

Honestly, I understand it as a heuristic, but I've come to see the whole "demographics as destiny" thing as being kinda racist, and not in the SJW REEEE EVERYTHING IS RACIST, MATH IS RACIST way, I mean just plain old dictionary racism, as it presumes a person's identity is deterministic of their ideology when we have examples to the contrary. The only one that might be relevant is class.

2019-11-19 01:49:31 UTC

But even then ...

2019-11-19 01:50:46 UTC

the only thing stopping that is an apathetic electorate

2019-11-19 01:51:12 UTC

Which, let's be honest, there are a lot of reasons why the electorate are apathetic.

2019-11-19 01:51:15 UTC

The point is that term limits take the decision to step down out of the incumbents hands, how much biased support do you think a lifetime president has when they've ran a country by giving positions to friends. What's a good country without term limits?

2019-11-19 01:51:20 UTC

Need Ranked Choice Voting too

2019-11-19 01:51:24 UTC

and when the electorate is apathetic, what does it matter? they reap what they sow

2019-11-19 01:51:46 UTC

Cuz it affects the rest of us

2019-11-19 01:52:17 UTC

Ranked Choice would make people feel like they're voting for who they actually want, rather than the lesser evil

2019-11-19 01:52:19 UTC

do something to make people care?

2019-11-19 01:52:30 UTC

I mean, I do my part, but ...

2019-11-19 01:52:31 UTC

I would say that demographics are important but not in the way that either SJWs nor Groyper's pretend.

Note I used a 5 minute not 5 hour vid....

2019-11-19 01:53:18 UTC

I think demographics are important in terms of where to focus attention, but doesn't say anything meaningful about individuals and thus can't be the basis of policy

2019-11-19 01:55:28 UTC

if you're talking about PRC, they haven't had meaningful elections in 70+ years

2019-11-19 01:56:54 UTC

I thought their elections were whoever ran out of bullets first?

2019-11-19 01:56:58 UTC

My point exactly. How many terms would FDR have lasted if he didn't die in office?

2019-11-19 01:57:19 UTC

but if you're talking about the US, grassroots campaigning is going to be the only way to create any affect on the political landscape

2019-11-19 01:57:41 UTC

And if the electorate votes for term limits?

2019-11-19 01:57:59 UTC

if the electorate votes for term limits, let us have term limits

2019-11-19 01:58:40 UTC

So far as I'm aware, most people want that, just the establishment politicians don't

2019-11-19 01:58:40 UTC

i do remember when i lived in arkansas and they put term limits on state legislators...things got more corrupt, not less

2019-11-19 01:59:26 UTC

I don't see why that would be the case. Sounds like an outlier, just like Kansas getting rid of taxes causing problems.

2019-11-19 02:00:14 UTC

@Marushia Dark it left lobbyists as the only long time denizens of the state house

2019-11-19 02:00:27 UTC

For the state budget maybe, but not for the state at large

2019-11-19 02:00:44 UTC

We can kick them too

2019-11-19 02:01:22 UTC

@Marushia Dark one can't very well run the lobbyists out of little rock on a rail...this isn't the 1940s

2019-11-19 02:01:47 UTC

Not saying they wouldn't fight back, but still.

2019-11-19 02:02:13 UTC

keep in mind, i haven't lived in arkansas in over 10 years

2019-11-19 02:02:27 UTC

i spent a decade in new york then recently came back south to mississippi

2019-11-19 02:02:46 UTC

I think if you get at least 51% of the population to do it you just made it legal

2019-11-19 02:03:36 UTC

i left little rock a liberal...left brooklyn a conservative

2019-11-19 02:03:49 UTC

Race isn't everything but it's definitely something.

2019-11-19 02:04:07 UTC

It's not racist to point it out.

2019-11-19 02:04:20 UTC

quite literally voted with my feet both times
