I very much doubt its cheaper tbh
unless by cheaper they mean theres enough gov subsidies...
cos they always have one of those machines out there fixing them
Way more cleanly than they used to.
But compared to other sources nowadays, I very much doubt that.
Either way, e.g. China doesn't give a fuck about running them cleanly.
That didn't actually address my point. The creation of a turbine has a giant carbon footprint.
I suppose, like electric cars, because people ignore the construction impact it appears cleaner
That only matters if you care about children in Kongo ๐
Oh yeah, fuck those guys - go go carbon offset!!! ๐
A coal mine and itโs equipment also had a carbon footprint in its construction
But the end product also has a negative impact on the environment
Wind turbines do have a footprint in construction
But at least the end product is cleaner
The end product is cleaner only if it's at sea and out of way of migratory birds
Lmao this argument
Which isn't an issue for UK
But for some countries finding a sea to build them is kinda problematic.
Yea
But we are a fantastic source of wind and tidal energy
Seems silly to pay other countries to import their gas
but some can't have either
When we could rely on our own resources
Also coal is clearly on the way out
Better to be a market leader in new tech
We were market leading in tidal technology
But we stopped investing
The only argument for fossil fuels is that they pay a lot of money to lobby politicians lmao
So I understand why politicians want to keep them
But everyone else? Itโs pretty dumb
I'm not against wind if it's done right. But when the whole country is littered by them, I really am not a fan of that.
Well we can have a mix of solar roof
Offshore onshore wind
And tidal
Tidal power alone if we utilised it in the UK I think can power almost half of our energy needs?
And we can sell our tidal products and tech
To other countries
How stable is that as an energy source?
We used to do this shit
