They will have cash to withstand the fallout of their bad decisions but then their decisions will be good for them if they will get them elected, give them power and cash.
Anyway, I'd be absolutely not surprised if current politicians in those progressive parties don't really give a shit about causing a mess long-term, since they just hope to get so much short-term through their shit they'll be able to survive through the rest
Plus, some of them probably are naive, idealistic and dumb as fuck people who really think that they just need to instill totalitarian communist government of th enelightened and then they'll fix everyone's ills and everyone will live happily - or some such
