There are more descriptive options, reflecting the development of the people attached to it.
Yeah. Key is when you go from sense-driven to planned behavior. Which takes some abstract thinking and rational control.
Spatial reasoning and impulse control, for sure.
That’s why some people will be on an island and build a raft, or sit and eat coconuts until they die.
that must explain why im so gung ho
lack of impulse control

Yes - exactly. PFC (rational mind) and limbic system (sensual desire) are mutually inhibiting. So you need a bit of training, culture and experience to get planned behavior up and running.

Good genetics probably helps a lot.
Otherwise, look at Africa. The people have no planned behavior, and with no incentive, they remain inept.
They also mostly didnt need it!
I’m not impulsive at all
But I do plan ahead
Which would go a long way to explain why they dont have it.
Without us feeding them, their populations wouldn’t be as high. Natures checks and balances would take care of their numbers.
Well- SA was mostly empty before the Boers went there...
Poopy: You are 22 or something?
The Boers built it up.
ok
I just finding hard to accept the idea that we somehow should think that there are no differences in mental ability. It makes no sense in any way.
And language devellopment might be a good way to illustrate the basic developmental steps.
The brain’s development is tied to nutrition, which is tied to the environment. A more rigorous environment that requires preparation, like a region with heavy winters, acts as a natural selector for only the best genes to survive winter.
And people who evolve in those conditions have a larger potential for language, do to the need to express complex situations.
Yeah. Specifically genes that can tilt the balance more towards planned behavior....
Language might actually be a necessary integral part of planning.
Or more broadly symbolic representation, that would give you a talent for language.
Definitely. In order to survive some contexts, it’s essential.
True. But I still think that coincides with development in a rigorous physical area. Europe is the best example.
Our frontal lobes are different from most races.
This is why the data on primitive languages would be interesting: You can then model the level of capacity for planned behavior on the level of abstraction of language.
For sure: The selection part of that evolution might simply be harsh winters.
Surplus of people able to support a civilization with a thinking class expounds upon that.
Languages can evolve in those situations.
Yeah. Might be something that is a bit like physical training: Exertion + reconstitution = gain
Sadly there is not a lot of research into this. It is all but banned in academia now.
lmao
A lot of things are banned.
