It would take me a while to sit down and list my top 10 anime. Ive seen quite a few. I'd probably have to determine my criteria first and then go through the list of everything ive watched. My criteria would possibly include shows I thought were sufficiently complex, solid in story, or simply impressive in style or immersion.

But then there's like, Made in Abyss. The story wasn't super strong, but it was deep (hehe) and BEAUTIFUL.

It elicited an emotion from me ive never felt from a show that im not sure how to describe. Emotion might not be right but im not sure what else to call it. Essentially I was so overwhelmed with one part i had to go lay down. I was physically ill. Like I went into shock and started to feel like i would throw up and got clammy skin (literal shock)

I got a similar experience from a passage I read in Quo Vadis
