only 4 disasters to date

all of which were predictable

do you realize how many flights happen successfully every single day, but people are terrified to fly because of the handful of plane incidents every year.

3/4 were extremely old

'fail-safe' means i can loose power or all the people in the control room and plant and the reactor will settle by itself without power, diesel or anything else into a docile state

cause the lack of failure is a function of a million different factors

well given enough time, all accidents will happen ?

because maintaining power 1) has a set of pre-requistites and 2) isn't enough

power + control systems

these are two seperate issues

the control system might see the correct state of the plant and issue the proper commands but the actuators may not function correctlly when they receive those commands

or the control system might receive inaccurate info from a failed sensor

or the control system might have a hidden bug that only shows up when the system is excercised in a certain way

or the power might be on by not reaching the control system the acctuator or a sensor
