that means you need to do mainentance, change out valves, replace sensors etc

most of those dont result in a meltdown

most of those result in minor radiation leak

all of those introduce risk and oppurtunities for idiots to fuck up

in part because of the constant need to run inspections

a need that wouldn't exist if not for regulation

we're talking mainly about a total meltdown

but then without rules, most companies will cut corners

only 4 disasters to date

all of which were predictable

do you realize how many flights happen successfully every single day, but people are terrified to fly because of the handful of plane incidents every year.

3/4 were extremely old

'fail-safe' means i can loose power or all the people in the control room and plant and the reactor will settle by itself without power, diesel or anything else into a docile state
