Be careful with steel case, that lacquer will gum up the action when it gets hot. Just make sure you clean well

There's silver bear which I think is unlacquered steel case but you won't find it commonly

Never dealt with anything other than new magazines right ? So this sks came with a few 20 round aftermarket mags and a 10 round original mag that came with it
Mags being a stubborn bitch loading it sprayed one internally with CRC 656 let it dry so it won't damp my rounds other than shooting it think the mag will be fine?

IMO I keep my mags out till I need them and the CBI well I know it's a clean barrel because I'm the last one to touch it

SKS's typically come with a ten round integral magazine that gets loaded from the top either round by round or with a stripper clip. A lot of people like to modify their SKS'S to accept AK style mags.. Some of those mods use actual AK mags, some use mags that look similar but have a little duck bill protrusion on the top front of the mag... The modified rifles are notoriously bitches to load the mag into the gun..

Just feeling like the spring is being difficult when loading rounds it's not smooth I got the 10 rD one easy it may not like the 20 rD mags from what I hear

But hell I only need one out of the 19 for home defense

@Kevin FL Consider taking it to the range and work it in a little.. Maybe get the opinion of the guy behind the counter. But the spring in the 20 round mag is probably going to be stiffer just because it's more spring. If it feeds correctly then you might just have to get used to it.. SKS'S were mass produced to military specs.. Operating reliably was the requirement.. Smoothness and comfort are way down the list.
Also worth considering is an SKS may not be the best home defense gun out there. It was designed as an infantry rifle before close quarters combat was the norm. If you're in a hall or doorway and have to swing it around, the 20-22" barrel might bite you in the ass. Also 7.62x39 rounds, more often than not, are going to be FMJ and they have a lot of stank behind them.. A bullet may go through an intruder and find it's way into a neighbors house.
