It just grinds my gears how when you bring this stuff up in public, you get the same looks that people give flat earthers.
I'll pick a side when they make up their mind
People are easily scared.
People are especially scared of the unknown.
The CO2 issue is an invisible threat.
Therefore people fear it more than anything else.
And so it is easy to brainwash them.
It’s like, damn motherfucker, I’m not denying science, I’m quoting the scientist that just disproved your scientist.
It was the same thing with the nuclear threat.
It's the safest, cleanest energy source. Yet people decided to end it. Look at Germany, their fear has resulted in stopping all their nuclear plants.
Fear, before all other things, drives politics.
Both good and bad people use fear to justify their actions.
People forget that most countries don't do construction as janky as Russia
That's not actually the issue.
the mainstream solutions to climate change aren't socialist
The real issue is that there's a large scale misinformation campaign happening about these things.
Fear can be tackled with knowledge.
Thus people need to be misinformed to stay fearful.
For nuclear, allot of people's fears are still rooted in Chernobyl
There's another problem
I've been trying to inform
People easily ask for things when they don't know what those things really are.
Yeah but even then, even if we were to construct dodgy reactors that had a small risk of disaster.
Look at it from their perspective.
They think the apocalypse is coming. Within 12 years it’s all over according to them because of this climate thing.
It’s a certainty. It needs ww2 levels of response.
Ok.
Build some nuclear reactors.
Carbon free energy.
Oh, fkn no, we can’t do that.
We can’t have a *risky* situation.
Even if it avoids *certain* annihilation.
The fuck?
Actally, nuclear is the safest source, not a risky one.
I know that
according to who is it over in 12 years
Their perspective
Is that it isn’t
a lot of lefties critique the dems for being too soft on climate change
The entire left side of politics
Also, the reactors that failed weren't thorium reactors. Which is what we should be using
Yeah, so when we eliminate known problems within nuclear, it would be even safer than it already is.
Essentially it would be a near non-existent threat.
Better than solar, ironically.
I can give you an idea how strong the propaganda machine is when it comes to these feared things.
My grandfather protested the Zwentendorf AKW (nuclear power plant) in Austria.
He spent his whole life on it and lived exlusively off donations. He had 8 kids that he neglected.
They're still working out their issues from this.
He successfully stopped the plant.
Thanks to him, Austria is worse off.
