2017-08-31 07:57:47 UTC

There is one advantage Egoists have over Marxists. You have heard of class consciousness? Well, there is also ego consciousness. The idea of a spook is any ideological construct which prevents a person from understanding himself as an individual. Marxism has no equal term. What is the word for thing which prevents class consciousness? It is just seen as bourgeois ideology. This is why Egoism is liberating in the here and now and not an abstraction like Marxism.

2017-08-31 07:58:56 UTC

Can't Marxists just adopt the term

2017-08-31 07:59:14 UTC

They could try, but not without adopting Egoism.

2017-08-31 07:59:40 UTC

they can barely feed themselves what makes you think for a seconde they could feed another mouth?

2017-08-31 07:59:57 UTC

Idk, a Marxist can talk about supply and demand or division of labor without being a capitalist

2017-08-31 08:00:11 UTC

Right

2017-08-31 08:00:37 UTC

Not familiar with the tenants of egoism though. What's the division

2017-08-31 08:01:14 UTC

a very bad game, as for the political term no idea

2017-08-31 08:04:12 UTC

I thought it was obvious. Marx is too theoretical. Egoism is simply an exploration of the subjective world describing the objective process from here to there. Marx and Egoism are not exclusive concepts. They are complementary, but this is hard for many Communists to accept who still worship 70 year old ideas. Not even that Marx hated Stirner. It seems there could even be a fundamental conflict. And in today's expression, Tankies and Anarchists do not get along.

2017-08-31 08:04:37 UTC

Rec some reading

2017-08-31 08:07:59 UTC

I mean, there is a lot of reading. I read lots of literature first, Marx, Engels, Lenin and Soviet material first. Then I read Stirner, but only as a secondary source, because Marx tries to argue against him. It turns out after reading Stirner that he had some really good points. Of which I could not reject. This is the basis of my critique which you have thus far read about.

2017-08-31 08:09:11 UTC

The only reading I've done so far of note is Proudhon's Why Property Is Theft

2017-08-31 08:09:18 UTC

Which was very dry

2017-08-31 08:10:02 UTC

But as a guy concerned with internal logic of counter arguments, it was a nice thought exercise to follow along

2017-08-31 08:13:10 UTC

I can only talk about the sequence in which I learned things. I found Marx, also, to be extremely dry. I hated reading it. Lenin was my favourite of the communists, I would try to pick up his Selected Works in One Volume, that was a good read. But I cannot suggest to read Stirner before that, because Marx and Stirner were both apart of the same Young Hegelian group. I had to read lots of philosophy before this to understand what this group was about. This is the barrier of understanding Communism, you have to be a researcher and have the interest in it.

2017-08-31 08:15:35 UTC

That's the context in which I can appreciate Stirner. I read tons of Philosophy. And building an understanding of Hegel is no joke.

2017-08-31 08:20:59 UTC
